The inner conflict between light and dark is a constant theme used many times in the Star Wars universe. Why do we enjoy watching someone struggling with their “inner demons” so much? I think it’s because it’s much safer for us to navigate the darker side of the psyche with fictional characters.

In Anakin Skywalker’s story we are able to see how the inner conflict of one character can influence so many others; Padme, Obi-wan, and even the Jedi order itself. I have always revered the way Anakin suffered for so long without giving in until the conflict was finally too much to bear. Think about it. Whilst we may not face the same kind of struggles as Anakin, we are constantly exposed to situations in life where our choices influence not only our own paths but the paths of others.
