I saw this via one of the many star wars subreddit’s I followed on Reddit and thought it would make a great discussion piece for my blog. In this image, the creator has photoshopped an older light side Anakin who is giving his advice to a dark side version of Luke.
It has been upvoted quite a bit in the thread and in the thread people mention a non-canonical version of the Original Trilogy that was released in comics by Dark Horse. This comic book series is called Star Wars Infinities where key plot elements from the original films have been altered. So basically, it’s the events of the original trilogy depicted from an alternate point of view.
I’m definitely interested in reading this series, and I’ve already started collecting them, so I’ll be featuring these comics here on my blog as part of the Star Wars is Poetry series. I don’t know if the above scene is included in these comics, but I am excited to find out exactly what was changed, and the impact those changes had on the original story and characters.
But what do you think about the above image? Is this how you would have imagined the conversation between a light side Anakin and a dark side Luke would have gone? Would it have ended up in a duel like that of Anakin and Obi-Wan in Revenge of the Sith? Wouldn’t that be something to see!

Hey TMP! I hope you don’t mind me calling you that lol 🙂 and yes, I agree! I was thinking about how that interaction would go and it’s kind of hard to really imagine because we’ve only ever seen a light side Luke and even when he was tempted, he was still a very level-headed person in comparison to say Anakin. And I think that all comes from Padme. Padme was like the calming influence in Anakin’s life and I see that so clearly in Luke’s personality. Leia on the other hand, she is very much her father’s daughter with her temperament. A little hot-headed and stubborn to change. So for me, seeing Luke as a dark side practitioner would be difficult. As we have seen Anakin as a light side Jedi Knight, it’s not as hard to see him speaking with a calm voice to his son and with patience and kindness 🙂

Yes, I agree completely! I think you bring up a good point about Luke inheriting Padme’s temperament, and Leia inheriting Anakin’s. I have never really thought about it that way before, but you are absolutely correct! And no, I do not mind you calling me that at all! 🙂
