Star Wars Fandom – Put That Solo on Ice!

This is one of the coolest Star Wars merchandised items I’ve seen in a while and it’s also functional as a working refrigerator!

I know that the term is carbonite but it sounded cool to say “put that Solo on ice” because it’s a fridge 😅 😂 🤣

      1. I’m keeping well and hope you are too 😊. I’ve seen the trailer and it looks stunning (casting, costumes, scenery… everything). I’ve got high hopes. Should be a visual adventure and I’ve heard that it’s being split into more than one film this time, which seems sensible!

      2. Hi there! Good to hear you’re doing well 🙂 And yes, Villeneuve is doing two films for the first book. I am keen to know if he has any plans beyond that because the second book sheds a lot of light on Paul and what happens to him. My partner and I just re-watched Dune from the 80s. Let’s just say it wasn’t as “bad” as I remembered it but yeah… Villeneuve’s vision is going to stomp all over it lol – no offense to the original director! But from what I’ve seen so far of Villeneuve’s version, it’s remarkable how different they are. I think Dune did okay for the time it was made but yeah, I think the latest generation of fans are going to see something incredible from him.

      3. I’d really like to rewatch the Lynch film – it certainly looks like the two are going to be very different (in a good way!). I’m quite amazed that it hasn’t been readapted up until now, given (as you mention) the potential for sequels. Although it seems as if science fiction is being taken more seriously by the wider public in the last decade or so – perhaps that’s just me?

      4. No I agree. It’s also quite strange to think of Dune as a franchise until now. With Denis Villeneuve readapting it to film, and making two movies from the first book, I think the fans will sit up and take notice. Some of it has to do with the track record of the person behind the adaptation. I don’t know much about Lynch but I have researched Villeneuve’s work and so far, he seems to be making great movies that movie fans love. He also took Bladerunner which is a cult classic and made a more than worthy sequel. Not many directors could pull that off. If you look at some other sci fi movies such as Alien for example, James Cameron took that franchise and blew it through the roof with his sequel. That type of talent doesn’t come along often – at least that’s my opinion 🙂 And adapting from a book is also difficult to do well – I’m just glad that Villeneuve has been a fan of Dune since his childhood and he grew up reading and loving the books. That makes me feel a lot better about everything he is doing with the film 🙂

      5. Ahh, I didn’t realise that it was the Blade Runner sequel director. I’m quite familiar with Lynch but confess that I’ve buried my head in the sand regarding the Bladerunner sequel. I’m very much a Philip K Dick fan and I’ve been anxious about the idea of the second film (but I’ve read only good reviews and realise that I’m the one missing out!). It certainly bodes well. On another note, I’m not sure if this is up your street, but I read that Asimov’s Foundation is being adapted for 2021. It’s great that these classics are getting the attention they deserve!

I am so excited for Foundation and it’s very much up my street 😀 There is a trailer already for Foundation and the first time I saw it my jaw dropped all the way to the ground lol – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Gdm40MPYnw I also like Philip K Dick so I totally get why you felt that about Bladerunner. I was hoping they’d adapt Neuromancer by William Gibson into film but that project never got off the ground. That would be AMAZING to see on the big screen as well 🙂

      7. Thank you for the trailer link! I’ve never read Neuromancer but must add to my list. For me, I’d love to see a good quality adaptation of Farenheit 451. This feels so apt for the social media age 🙂

      8. Oh yeah – definitely fitting. I think they’ve made a film about that already if I remember correctly? I haven’t seen it yet which is surprising because I love that kind of material 🙂
