The Star Wars Cast – The Truth About Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher

I’m not sure if you’ve ever wondered looking at all the images from the first movie whether Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were a “thing”. I’ve always thought that their photos together really did show a very close bond, almost like brother and sister. But then there are other images where I’ve thought “they really do look like they’re more than just friends”.

Mark Hamill has probably spilt the beans on this little piece of Star Wars controversy in many places, but I stumbled upon this article from The Guardian where he confirms it.

“Carrie and I were attracted to one another, but I knew from previous jobs that it would have been a bad idea [to get involved with someone on set]. But Carrie and I found pretexts. I remember one time – I’m sure alcohol was involved – we were talking about kissing techniques. I said: ‘Well, I think I’m a fairly good kisser. I like to let the women come to me rather than be aggressive.’ And she said: ‘What do you mean?’ Well, next thing you know we’re making out like teenagers!”

I think their chemistry both on and off-screen is what really made their work together so much more amazing and grounded. Some people frown on this sort of thing happening in Hollywood with the cast and crew, and I’m sure in some situations it’s probably wrong. But I think that Mark and Carrie made it work really well for them, well beyond the first-star wars trilogy. And I think that is what makes them special in comparison to the many other Hollywood flings that never lasted or broke up a family or marriage or worse!

And yes, I know about Carrie’s affair with Harrison Ford, but that’s a topic for another post.

So I choose to think that something wonderful came out of their time together and they remained very good friends as a result.

What do you think about this? Did you ever think that Carrie and Mark had a thing or do you prefer to avoid Hollywood gossip?

Either way, you know the drill, let me know in the comments!

Stay safe, keep creating and I’ll catch you in the next one 🙂

  1. I have never heard the gossip, but Carrie is reputed to have been a bit lively. If you are both young and single, have fun. If you can’t be naughty in a sci-fi film then where can you?

  2. I’ve always been a Star Wars Nerd and I’ve read about Carrie’s affair with Harrison Ford but never knew about her and Mark Hamill. It really saddened me when she died. She was still fairly young.

    1. Hi there and thank you for the comments and the follow 🙂 I remember reading something about Carrie and Harrison a while back when she released her book about it. But I didn’t read anything about Mark Hamill at the time until recently when I saw the article in the Guardian 🙂 And yes, it was very sad when she passed. The world is just not the same without her in it.
