The Star Wars Fandom – A Special Fandom Experience

I came across this really special fandom post on Reddit that I really wanted to share with my readers. It’s something special from Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher and just goes to show how amazing being a fan of Star Wars can be.

It’s also much nicer to read wonderful stories like this than read hateful posts and toxicity so I’m trying to spread the more positive things about being a star wars fan around the community.

Here’s the story:

I saw Mark and Carrie at Star Wars Celebration 2015. They had side by side tables in the autograph hall and together they morphed into an entertaining duo. They were teasing each other, mocking each other, performing for the fans, being really happy and engaged. I had gone with a friend who was in a wheelchair and he was watching them from afar and smiling but couldn’t afford an autograph ticket, Mark stands up and points directly at him from maybe 30 feet away and yells “well are you coming over to say hi or not?” My shocked friend goes over and is so shy and scared, then Carrie comes over and they both hug him, give him autographs and take pictures with him for free. Carrie grabbed him by the collar and planted a big kiss on him. Mark and Carrie’s energy reminded me of close bonded siblings. In that moment I felt like I was a guest at their home for family dinner listening to stories and watching joy and happiness not at a large convention center. My friend rolled back and started to cry. They made him one of the best memories he’d ever had that day.

  1. Your little story made my morning seem so much brighter and in these dim times I am absolutely sure I’m not alone in the need for more positivity. I am aware that this is most likely temporary but we don’t know that for sure so every little ray of light is very precious to me so thanx!
