Personal Post

So I just got back from having eye surgery on my right eye. It sounds a lot more serious than it is but basically I now have an IOL lens in my right eye which will correct my eye condition. Not sure what that means for my glasses but I’ll probably have to get different ones considering my eyesight will be vastly improved.

So yeah, that is my day, how is yours going? 😅 It feels strange using only one eye to type this right now because I have a patch over my right eye which I can hopefully remove tomorrow. But depending on what happens to my eyesight after that, I may not be able to do much so I am off work for the rest of this week. We’ll see how things go. Some people go straight back to work the next day after IOL surgery lol but even if I could, I wouldn’t because I am happy to take the time off (even though I have another three weeks off in late December/January) 😅 Don’t tell my boss I said that LOL

So I’ll still be blogging away as usual hopefully back to it tomorrow. I just wanted to update everyone as this is a huge thing to go through. And if anyone asks me if the surgery was scary I will say YES it bloody was because you can’t be asleep! You are entirely awake and aware of the operation taking place lol – kinda freaked me out but I got through it and now I can’t wait to see how my eyesight has improved once I get the patch off 🙂

Anyway, I hope you are all well and I look forward to your comments should you have any questions 😁

Catcha ya tomorrow my friends

  1. Hi there, I just had to Google what IOL was and yeah, that doesn’t sound like something I’d want to go through. I have a thing about my eyes as I wore spectacles as a youngling and my eyes were protected from the wind, dirt and the elements. But then years later, I was told I no longer needed glasses and that was when I discovered I was very sensitive if anything got close to my eyes. Contact lenses? Forget it, I’d have no chance…ugh!

Well I’ll give your eye a rest and end here, hope your vision clears (and maybe even improves your migraine situation – you know less eye strain).

    1. My eyesight has improved so much I no longer wear glasses lol. I might still have to wear *some* glasses as the eyesight in my other eye could deteriorate as well but we don’t know for sure. At least I know that if it does, I will be able to get this operation done and I’ll know what to expect. The best part about it is that I didn’t have to pay a cent as due to being a native to NZ and having really bad eyesight in that eye, I dodged a 6-12k cost to have this surgery. So I have been extremely fortunate.

      1. I think that is one of the benefits of the Commomwealth and the National Health Service (NHS or New Zealand’s equivalent) that provides free healthcare for folk that needs it but may be unable to pay for such. So glad to hear the procedure seems to have been a success. And I think I did well, I managed to prevent myself posting the meme I had seen about laser eye correction surgery where the Optician uses a lightsaber!

      2. Ah yes and Obi-Wan saying “This is a Lightsaber, the weapon of a Jedi…your father wanted you to have this just don’t look down…” Snaphiss!! (<saber ignites) "that hole!" Oh dear that is going to take some surgery to fix!

      3. Oh I like a good meme now and then. I used to create quite a few myself, I used to post them on a lightsaber forum I used to belong to. And it turns out I was a bit of a “Fortune Telling Force User” as I posted this meme a fortnight before the opening day of The Force Awakens….

Who knew I could FORsee the future?!

      4. I’ll be honest it actually shook me up for a while after I saw what happened to the Rathtar. It was told my grandmother had “abilities” and it looks like now and then I have moments when I “see” stuff.
I haven’t had any episodes recently so that’s sort of good.
