Hayden Christensen’s Response to Disney’s Announcement of His Return to Star Wars

I’ve been wondering about Hayden’s reaction to the news that was released by Disney at the Investor’s Meeting on Thursday and thankfully, Hayden was quoted directly from this article on Star Wars dot Com:

Last August at D23 Expo, Lucasfilm announced the return of Ewan McGregor in the iconic role of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi for a special event series on Disney+. Officially titled Obi-Wan Kenobi, the series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where he faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. The series is directed by Deborah Chow, who helmed memorable episodes of The Mandalorian Season 1.

This will truly be a day long remembered, as it was confirmed that Hayden Christensen will be returning as Darth Vader. “This will be the rematch of the century,” Kennedy said.

“It was such an incredible journey playing Anakin Skywalker,” said Christensen. “Of course, Anakin and Obi-Wan weren’t on the greatest of terms when we last saw them… It will be interesting to see what an amazing director like Deborah Chow has in store for us all. I’m excited to work with Ewan again. It feels good to be back.”

So there we have it – Hayden is feeling good to be back, which is amazing to hear. Frankly, I am not surprised to hear this from Hayden. Considering his relationship with the Star Wars fandom, one would almost expect him to turn down the role, especially since there was so much division in the fandom over his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker at the time. It just goes to show that Hayden has what it takes to be a professional in this business, putting past events behind him and focusing on the brilliant Disney Plus series to come. I have no doubt he will be superb and will just amaze everyone!

Let me know what your thoughts are on Hayden’s return as the iconic Darth Vader in the comments!

Stay safe out there everyone, wear your masks, be kind to each other and I’ll catch you tomorrow!

    1. Hey there TVTA 🙂 I hope you are well 🙂 And yes, I am soooo excited for this to happen, probably more than I have been for a Star Wars project in some time. With Hayden returning in the role of Darth Vader, I think it has given some fans that were perhaps a little disillusioned with some of Disney’s choices hope in the franchise once more. I know that sounds kinda cliche but I really think it has 🙂

      1. I’m good thanks, Julie 🙂 It’s strange as I was never a huge fan of the PT, but I guess I’m getting a bit nostalgic for it now because I’m looking forward to seeing this very much. Plus I know I can watch it with my youngest son who loves the PT films.

      2. Hi there, that’s great to hear 🙂 And yes, I have seen a few people mention that they were never really fans of the PT but with Hayden returning, they have revisited the films and have a completely different outlook. That is why I think re-watching films is important because people change and they change their views of things all the time 🙂 I am rewatching the entire skywalker saga now lol

      3. I’ve always enjoyed The Phantom Menace and happily watch that anytime – the pod race, Darth Maul, love all that 🙂 I even went to the 3D version at the cinema when Lucas planned on releasing the films as 3D before the Disney takeover – then the idea was scrapped in favour of new films. Absolutely brilliant to see it on the big screen as I missed the original release.

      4. I remember seeing the Attack of the Clones in Los Angeles as I was there for work and I’ll never forget that experience lol but yeah, I love all star wars 🙂 I mean I have favourites but I love it all 🙂
