What Is Your Most Popular Post for 2020?

I see people doing these things on IG quite often where they will post their yearly stats for their images with the most likes, comments etc. And it’s quite interesting to see what it is that people like on your blog and what they avoid by checking your stats.

So I thought I’d start this round for 2020 and see if anyone else wants to join in – it’s not a pissing contest at all so I’ll say that straight off the bat. This is merely a way to look at what you did well on your blog in a year that was full of awfulness. You can upload anything you want whether that be stats, images or words!

LET’S SPREAD THE POSITIVITY YA’LL!

My most popular blog post was this one:

Ben Solo and Blue Butterflies

And the most downloaded file on my blog last year was this one:

Luke and R2 looking back on 2020

It’s interesting to see where the most traffic came from as well – for me it was the States first and then believe it or not, Mexico!

My best referrer was Pinterest (which doesn’t at all surprise me since I use Pinterest to drive traffic in a big way to my blog) and my second referrer was search engines like Google.

Let me know how you celebrated blogging on your blog last year – I am dying to see all that you’ve achieved and are proud of!

Hit me up in the comments if you want to ask anything and I’ll catch you in tomorrow’s post.

If you like my posts, you can check out more of them right here.

And while you’re there, why not consider following me on Twitter, Instagram and right here, on WordPress.

Thanks for your support!

  1. Hi Julie, I’m not one for analysing my stats as such, I just look to see how many views I have in general each day and hope I can improve on the last. I leave comments with links to my site on YouTube and some message platforms but I’m no social media guru (I don’t use FB for personal reasons so miss out on publicity there). But having looked through last year the most viewed post was my article about the passing of Eddie Van Halen. It was just my way of acknowledging the event and the great musician he was. The lightsaber I posted that day was actually one I came up with around four years ago which I reposted.
I guess I just blog and if folk like what I do that’s great – it keeps me occupied.

    1. That’s awesome đŸ™‚ Yeah I am not really a “stats” person either to be honest. I know how to read them and I do view them each day but I don’t blog my content around my stats. Sometimes when I log on I’ll get messages saying that the traffic to my blog is up but that only happens ocassionally and when it does, I am not exactly sure why lol

      1. Funnily enough one strange phenomenon on my site is the number of visitors I get who followed a link posted on an entertainment and gaming website named “Poligon”. Somebody posted a comment on Poligon about Natalie Portman presumably regarding Attack of the Clones, because the poster linked to an image of Padme’s Geonosis arena outfit I published with the Aggresive Negotiator design I made. The thing is there are at least a hundred copies of the same image around the net but they chose the copy on my site to link too – not that I’m complaining, I get quick free traffic, the visitors just don’t explore the rest of my site!

      2. Yeah you’ll get that. I am slowly getting people viewing more than just one post and bouncing off my site which I am really happy about đŸ™‚ I’ll take what I can get lol

      3. I have also been getting a lot of Spam too, from a lot of different email addresses but they all have the same text within the comment. It always says “Thank you. How do I log into this session?” in Spanish/Hispanic – and they seem to have targeted just two images that I have turned comments off for. So I don’t know if they have got the message yet, I just empty my Spam filter. (And I can’t filter out the comments, as if I block all the servers/URLs I may end up blocking legit commentators).

      4. I have had a few of those Traffic Booster ones too but not as many as the “how do I log in?” requests. Empty Spam is now my best friend.
I just noticed that WP are placing “Sponsored Ads” and content suggestions on my site and to get rid of it I’ll need to upgrade to a paid account which I’m not 100% happy with, but that’s something else I need to look into.

      5. It’s something I’ll have to consider as I’m already at 2/3rds of my storage allowance and the Sponsored material is placed right on top of any new posts that I publish. Makes my site look untidy and just a clickbait magnet.

      6. I’m going to have to consult my bank and Team Tyeth (aka Mrs T) to see if I can afford £3 a month for the paid personal plan which I think would block this new content. I’ll let you know what I decide after negotiations!

  2. My most popular posts are a couple of technical ones I wrote in order to stop having to look up the solution every time. I seem to have attracted an awful lot of new followers that don’t appear to view or like anything. I to mainly write for my own well being.

    1. That is wonderful! Don’t you think its amazing how the internet works? I mean sometimes I sit there and I am like “how do these people know I exist?” lol I mean I have social media but I never promote my blog posts in a big way. I will tweet it once and then never again. Some people tweet their posts or promote their posts several times a day lol

      1. Yup I think we have similar goals đŸ™‚ I like it when people find me and like my content but I just don’t have the time to dedicate to proper social media promotion for my blogs. I do the bare minimum and leave the rest to the internet lol – Yay! I found you đŸ˜€ I just followed you – I see some pretty Han pics, I just repinned them đŸ™‚

  3. Love your rendition of Luke and R2 looking back on 2020. very apt! For me my most popular post was one I made on French fashions from the 1960s, followed by a post about Princess Leia and her robes vs a Princess Anne wedding dress, and Micro Machines!
Couldn’t be more happier with my blog right now. It’s totally become the huge image archive I wanted, with visitors from all over the world searching for all kinds of vintage stuff, mainly toys + daily refs from Pinterest, FB, and Google. That said, it’s taken me almost 10 years to get it into this shape. The first five years was a bit of a ghost town, then after brilliant đŸ™‚ I’m on the personal plan which offers more storage and keeps it ad-free, an important choice for me so that visitors get only the images they’re looking for and a clean site.

    1. Hey TVTA and thank you đŸ™‚ I like that pic as well. Princess Anne vs Princess Leia’s dresses? Oh I must see this post lol I’ll take a gander later on but if you could link it to me that would be marvelous. And yeah, I prefer the paid plan for similar reasons – the ads are really annoying.
