Star Wars Cinematic Universe – What Do You Think Is the Worst Moment in Star Wars?

I have yet to decide upon this because I am conflicted. We are not talking about the best moments but the worst in the cinematic Star Wars universe. It is your interpretation of events as you see it, therefore it has worth and value – it doesn’t have to agree with anyone or anything so please, enlighten me my dear readers as I am excited to see what you think about this.

By “worst” I mean it could be a particular scene that you didn’t like for whatever reason. And if you could redo this scene, how would you go about doing it? You may think it’s perfect as it is, showing all the brutality and hopelessness of the story plainly and clearly. It can still be a horrible scene, even if it is masterfully created and/or written. It can be masterfully created for this exact reason.

I think there are quite a few of these scenes in Star Wars – made to create an uncomfortable feeling in its viewers. And they say Star Wars is for children… well, the toys might be but the stories are far from lullaby material šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚

Let’s see what we can look at as examples:

  1. Copious amounts of killing (doesn’t matter whether that be for “good” or “evil” reasons, people are still dying everywhere in Star Wars!)
  2. Betrayal of friends
  3. Betrayal of family members
  4. Family members trying to kill each other
  5. Death due to having a broken heart (Padme)
  6. Genocide (entire planets being wiped out by the “evil” Empire/First Order etc)
  7. Patricide (the murdering of one’s own father)

Those are just some examples off the top of my head so plenty of situations to refer to as the “worst” star wars moment. You could also consider the introduction of certain characters into the cinematic universe as “the worst” such as Hayden Christensen portraying Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader (many fans think he was terrible in the prequel trilogy – just their opinion, not mine!)

So with all that in mind, if you had to choose ONE particular example of the worst moment in the Star Wars cinematic universe (this also includes TV shows by the way), what would it be for you?

I am excited to see your examples in the comments!

As always, stay safe my friends and MTFBWY!

  1. If we’re talking about a scene that shocked and devastated me, it’s Han’s death by Kylo. You probably already guessed that, lol. If we’re talking about a poorly executed scene or group of scenes, I’d have to say the romance between Padme and Anakin. It just seemed really cheesy to me, idk, lol. Their dialogue was just kind of laughable, sometimes. (It’s not the actor’s fault, they’re both great actors, and they did the best they could with the script they got). I’m okay with it, it is what it is, but as someone who grew up with the Han and Leia romance, this one was lacking. Also, Padme’s dying of a broken heart–okay, I get that, but she had babies–BABIES–who needed her, and who could have brought her some kind of joy. Padme is one of the most selfless characters, but she didn’t seem to give her children a second thought–Anakin’s children. It doesn’t make sense. I know the story required her to die, but why couldn’t they just have had her die of complications of childbirth, as Anakin had foreseen? It would have been more believable. It just seemed out of character for her, as much as she loved Anakin. I’ve always had a problem with Padme’s character in Episode 3, it just goes against everything that was established about her in Eps 1&2. Anyway, rant over, lol. Oh, P.S., I know there are some fans who believe that Sidious somehow drained her of her life force, but I don’t subscribe to that theory. No evidence whatsoever.

    1. Nah I don’t believe that theory either. I both like and despise the idea of her dying of a broken heart because she didn’t seem like that type of person as you say – she seemed much too strong to me for that to happen to her. It seemed kind of out of character almost I guess. But you’re sop right it is what it is. And I agree with you on their romance versus Han and Leia. Han and Leia’s seemed more fulfilling even though they didn’t stay together, that actually seemed a lot more realistic too lol
