Who is your Favourite Space Dad in Star Wars?

I don’t know where the name “space dad” came from. I assume it was on social media, probably Tumblr. It’s very similar to the term “space twins”, which definitely came from social media, and I’ve seen it used everywhere since.

So I figured we should vote on who we think is the best “space dad” in the Star Wars universe and why? I will keep this just to the Star Wars cinematic universe (that is, including TV/streaming shows as well) to keep things simple, but there are quite a few examples just from the SCU alone.

I’ll post the images, and you can all vote on who you think the best Space Dad is in the SCU and why! Doesn’t that sound like fun! 😆😁

Okay, so on with the show… first up, it’s Din Djarin as Grogu’s space dad. Could he be the best space dad in the SCU? Let’s take a vote! Get to those comments, people and let me know!

Han and Ben in TRoS – still one of my favourite scenes in that film. Not much to go on; at least Han was there at the beginning of Ben’s redemption.

We don’t have a lot to go on other than Luke turned out to be amazing, so some of that must have come from Owen and Beru.

BAIL ORGANA

Bail Organa brought up Leia, and look how she turned out… geez, this is going to be a tough one. 😅

I know that at least two of these choices are not as prominent as the other two (being Han and Din Djarin) because we have more material to work with. But take into consideration who the children became, particularly Luke and Leia growing up with adopted parents.

  1. Din is pretty awesome, but I’ve always been a Bail Organa fan. Leia is one of the strongest characters in the story, and I think that’s a direct result of her parents. The other choices are good, too–Han clearly loved his son, and Owen, even though he was kind of grumpy, did a good job with Luke. But for me, Din and Bale win the Dad prize.

      3. Yes, that’s true, too. Some may blame Han and Leia, at least partly, for Ben’s fall–neglectful parents, etc.–I don’t necessarily agree with that, but their busy-ness did make it easier for Palps to influence him, imo. But their last sacrifices for Ben put them right up there.

  2. I’ve always liked Bail. I’m not quite sure exactly why, but think the actor has a lot to do with it. I enjoyed his character’s courage and loyalty in the prequels, and I loved seeing him pop up in Rogue One. Speaking of Rogue One, Galen Erso was a pretty legit space dad.

    1. Hey there 🙂 Yes, I agree and I completely forgot about Galen Erso. I agree there as well, his relationship with Jyn was so heartfelt 🙂 I was sad when he died 😦 in fact Rogue One was heartbreaking most of the time lol maybe that’s why it’s in my top five 🙂

      1. I agree. I think it’s exactly what a “spin-off” movie should be. It is a Star Wars movie at its core, but at the same time, it explores ideas and themes that are not in the main trilogies. Like, I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of non-Jedi force-sensitive individuals, and love that Rogue One has one as a main character. Anyway, in other news, I finally finished The World According to Star Wars! I thought it was really interesting. I loved all the little bits of trivia/history, and I also enjoyed how the author explored how Star Wars concepts relate to real life.

      2. Hi there! Yes, I loved that Rogue One seemed like it was part of the original films but wasn’t at the same time. I think a lot of star wars fans underrate this film but it’s also the first Star Wars movie where the heroes all die. That never happens in star wars! It kind of goes against George Lucas’s idea of a star wars movie giving people hope where the heroes never die. It’s quite brilliant. Ah yes I love those little tidbits of information myself. It’s actually one of the better books on star wars that I’ve read so far 🙂
