Star Wars Fandom – This is AMAZING!

Hello, fellow Star Wars friends! Just a quick post today about this image I stumbled upon on Reddit, and it blew my mind (it’s more than a year old, but I’ve only just seen it):

3D PRINTED DROIDEKA
Via Reddit

I MEAN GEEZ LOUISE… that’s insane! Someone 3D printed a Star Wars Droideka, lol. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably already seen this image as I posted it there some hours ago. But it’s interesting how many people haven’t yet seen this image, including myself, lol.

I tried looking through the thread to see if the person that posted it had any further details about how long it took him to make it etc., but I couldn’t see anything I could use for this post. It was pretty much loads of people saying the same thing like “holy crap!” quite a lot. 🤣

Imagine 3D printing Anakin… OR LUKE!!! I wonder how hard it would be to do that? I don’t know a thing about 3D printing other than the printers used to do it are SERIOUSLY expensive to buy (which makes sense because I am sure that NASA used 3D printers to make some of the stuff they used in Space).

Honestly, if I was super-wealthy, I’d seriously consider buying one of these for sure. It’s just amazing what we can do with technology these days, am I right?

Let me know what you thought of today’s post, my friends; stay safe out there, and I’ll catch you in tomorrow’s post!

  1. Hi Julie, Droid….deck….KAAAAH! Wow, imagine the size of the printer needed to build this – most home 3D printers have a printing surface (known as the “table”) of 300mm x 300mm maximum and print objects up to 250mm in height. There are some modifications you can make so the printer has a much longer surface that moves laterally under the printer nozzle to allow you to print larger elongated objects, but still this is a mammoth build.
Now I have assembled my Jedi costume I think my next “big buy” will be a 3D printer as I have been badgered by folks wanting to know if I have printed any of my sabers. Seeing this and what people are posting for sale on ETSY etc has got me itching to try it. (Plus I have a few accessories I need for my costume I could print out for myself!).

  2. I just saw this myself a day or so ago. Wow! Droidekas happen to be my favorite battle droid from the prequels, they’re awesome. 3-D printers just blow my mind. I have no idea how they work, it’s like magic to me, lol.

    1. I’ve been wanting a a 3D printer since they were released to consumers. I think the very first were only made for industrial work but now you can buy them (well, if you have thousands of dollars to spare lol) they are so cool 🙂
