Personal Update – WordPress Blues

Hello, my friends! I hope you are all enjoying the weekend, staying creative, and finding something you love to do πŸ˜‰

Just wanted to run this by you all. Are you noticing strange things happening with WordPress? I know there is definitely something wrong with the notifications again. I checked my notifications several times today and cleared them to refresh the webpage with a notification alert again.

I have blogged about this before, but I just wanted to know if anyone has noticed notifications aren’t working? So if I miss your post and haven’t commented when I usually do, this is why. I just wanted everyone to know that my notifications are not updating correctly.

I haven’t really done any troubleshooting other than clearing my browser’s cache to make sure I am not viewing older, cached data. When I refreshed the page, the notification came back up again, so I know it’s not cached data. It’s extraordinary, to say the least, but I’ve had problems with this on and off for years. I’ve never complained officially because it eventually resolves itself, and I start receiving notifications correctly after a few days.

I guess we’ll see how it goes, but the notification alert is showing again as I write this. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…

Anyway, let me know what you’ve been up to this weekend. I am excited to hear what you’ve all been doing with your time!

Catch you in my next post, which might be very soon as I am hoping to do some art today πŸ™‚ maybe after this post!

Talk soon!

If you like my posts, you can check out more of them right here.

And while you’re there, why not consider following me on Twitter, Instagram and right here, on WordPress.

Thanks for your support!

  1. Hi Julie, I have noticed that WP don’t keep up with Stickied posts on my homepage. I usually publish each post with a “Sticky” so it should appear at the top of any timeline but when I view my homepage the first post is usually 3 or 4 posts old.
But regards the notifications, these could be affected by Windows compatibility and I think Microsoft are in the process of pushing out “background updates” which could be affecting permissions for notifications etc. Microsoft updated my laptop WITHOUT notice and altered the operation of my taskbar. Normally I have the taskbar/menubar at the bottom of my screen but now MS has moved it so it is positioned “outside” of my view and I have to move my mouse pointer off the bottom of the screen to get the taskbar to scroll up into view. What’s worse though is if I try to open the Start Menu – I have to click Start obviously and drag the mouse up to activate the pop up menu bar – but if I scroll up and ever so slightly move the cursor off the menu the taskbar and menus just shrink back off screen!
But I do also suffer delayed notifications so I wouldn’t worry too much, I just “Force” them to appear by clicking the Bell anyway…. Force it! Geddit? 🀣😎

    1. LOL yeah I am not too worried about it I just don’t like to miss updates from people I follow as I don’t want anyone to think I am not reading their content when I am πŸ™‚ I will just have to be more diligent and check it more often lol

      1. Hi again, yes it isn’t too much of a problem but those “backdoor updates” from MS can be. You may have heard of “KB update packages”, well these are quarterly updates MS send out (along with Security Patches and Experience upgrades) and they have been known to have bugs in their programming BEFORE Microsoft issue them. They almost crippled my I5 laptop.

      2. Oh yeah I know all about patches that patch one thing and screw up another. Having worked in IT for a really long time (off and on most of my life really lol) I know how bad patches can be. MS has always had its issues but it’s still the biggest selling OS. That doesn’t mean it’s without its issues, no OS can be completely without faults. I am struggling to figure out why one of the other apps I use on my computer has stopped working correctly and it’s an APP I need for my edits to work so I am pretty stressed about it. That coupled with getting food poisoning yesterday is just enough to push me back to bed lol

      3. Blimey, you don’t do things by half do you…if something goes awry for you then it’s usually 2 or 3 things at once – hope you feel better soon.
Mind you I did hear there was a new cartoon series about a bunch of defective clone troopers that got psychologically updated with new software.. I think it was called “The Bad Patch”?….oh wait sorry it was called “The Bad Batch” 🀣

  2. The only thing I’ve noticed is that there’s no orange dot on my notifications if I look in my email and see there are notifications. I don’t even have to click on the email, just open up my mailbox and see that they’re there. Weird, lol. But the notifications are there on wordpress, even if there’s no orange dot. Who knows. And I’m so sorry about the food poisoning. Yuck. Hope you feel better.

    1. Ah thank you Tina πŸ™‚ I am feeling a lot better than I did yesterday. I still don’t know what caused it because my partner and I ate the same thing and he didn’t get sick 😦 So I am just taking my time today wasting the day away lol I can’t believe how fast time flies when you’re not at work lol
