New Luke Skywalker Edits December 2021

I’ve slowly been moving back towards making art with Adobe products which I used to do a lot more regularly. With everything that happened this year, I’ve actually stopped doing many things I used to do with vigour. Things like editing and making art in Adobe Photoshop.

So again, I can’t promise I’ll become more regular, but I’ll try. When you feel awful and tired all the time, it’s hard to be creative. But art has always been a reprieve for me. With that in mind, here are a few edits I did recently:

Luke Skywalker Edit #1

Art by Sergio Gomez Silvan. Edited by me.

The image above is from the book Star Wars The Secrets of the Jedi by Marc Sumerak and Luke Skywalker. Here’s the caption that I added to this on social media:

“The Jedi Order is dead. All that’s left now are legends.
Or at least that was supposed to be the case. My name is Luke Skywalker and had everything gone as I planned, I would have been the last Jedi”…

– Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker Edit #2

Credit: Lucasfilm Edit by Me

The image above was a random one I found via Google, and I really liked it. The original is poor quality (which is why it’s all scratchy looking and grainy). I basically edited the image with filters and duotones and then added text using the same duotones from the picture, and voila! There was also text on the bottom of it that I edited out.

This is one below I did today, and I really like it because I started off with a completely different idea in my head. I saw a tutorial online that I wanted to replicate, but I ended up ditching it and using a few elements from it, like the flower. Then I got this idea in my head that Luke’s flower and colour would be blue. I combined them with the Rebel Alliance symbol and Aurabesh text saying “Hope,” and there you go!

“Luke is Hope” – EDIT by Me

And that’s it for today, my friends. Have you been up to anything creative lately? Let me know in the comments or just hit me up anyway 😄😁

Star Wars Motion Art Update – Star Wars Galaxy Topps Cards

It’s been way too long since I updated this website with motion art or any art that I’ve done recently. Again, I’ve let these things lapse and I’m not really sure why 🙁 I have promised to update this site more regularly but I’m trying to figure out how I should do that with my art/motion art/adobe posts for the foreseeable future. I’ve contemplated creating a separate site for my art and moving everything over. But that would take a lot of time (which I don’t have) and yet one more blog I’d have to maintain.

So I’m still thinking on that for now. Until I decide what I want to do with my motion art edits and adobe posts, I’ll just keep updating here for now.

Here are a couple of motion art edits I did of Topps Star Wars Galaxy cards I saw on Instagram. I have a friend who posts updates of the cards he collects (and he collects A LOT) and every now and then I see some that are just so pretty like these two:

And this one which I did today:

The one above is so pretty with Luke becoming one with the cosmos and the stars in his hair 😍🥰

Let me know how you’ve all been getting on – I can’t even tell you how stressful and trying my life has been lately but basically I was made redundant along with six of my team mates 😰😥😓 I’ll talk about it at some point but not any time soon as it’s still a little raw to think about right now 😡🤬

Anyway, STAY SAFE out there everyone! If you’ve done anything at all creative or arty, let me know!

See you in the next post!

Star Wars Art – Starkiller and Original Star Wars Art

I’ve been sorely neglecting my blog in terms of art-related content. But I intend to get back into doing it more regularly (so many plans, lol). Now that we are in a nationwide lockdown that doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon, I will have more time to dedicate to my blogging.

I haven’t been making many motion art/GIFs and animations either, and I’m not sure why that is. So I’ll be creating stuff when I feel like creating; otherwise, it just doesn’t feel the same. It feels fake when I try and force myself to do something.

Here is some motion art I did recently with original art from Greg Hildebrandt:

Art by Greg Hildebrandt

And an edit someone else did of an original piece of art from artist Meduzarts Animation Studio.

Original art:

Art by Louis Gilles Montagne

And the edit someone did of Starkiller:

No idea who did this edit, but it looks great as motion art!
EDIT BY UNKNOWN – ANIMATED BY ME

I also did an .MP4 version with a sound like rain falling, but that file is huge, so I didn’t want to upload that here (and break people’s computers with resource lag, lol).

What have you been up to lately? Let me know in the comments all about your creative pursuits! Catch you in the next post; stay safe out there, friends!

Darth Malgus Motion Art – SWTOR

Hi everyone! So I am slowly easing back into regular posts again, and since I haven’t done an art-related post in a really long while, I thought I’d make some motion art for Pinterest and for here (of course!)

Here’s one I did of Darth Malgus taken from the new SWTOR background, which I just loved! Here’s the original image, and I just loved Darth Malgus’ pose here, so I decided to “borrow” it for an image I wanted to make:

Take out that (awesome) noisy background and replace it with this!

Annnnnd add Darth Malgus back in, and yay! 😁

Don’t ask me why he’s on a planet that looks a lot like Mustafar. I just liked it lol.

And here’s the finished image with animation added (because it looks terrific, I think!)

Made by Darkside Creative

What do you reckon? I enjoyed making it, and hopefully, I’ll continue on this burst of creativity! Who knows what I might make next 😅😁

Let me know what you’ve been up to this week! Anything exciting? Feel free to catch up with me in the comments!

The Big Clean-Up Project – Part I

I’ve wanted to make an official post about this project of mine for some time. Still, I’ve either been too busy with other life stuff OR too lazy 😅 The thing is, though, I’ve been putting this off for a long time, and I know that my site is not going to get any better if I don’t start cleaning up the content. I know it has a crapload of content to sift through, and I won’t have to update all of it. I am just looking to move content I don’t want on this blog to my other blogs if the content is a fit (like movie reviews I don’t want on this blog) and general upkeep such as linking back to all of my images, edits etc. on Pinterest for maximum exposure (at least that is my goal!) As well as this, I will be updating the permalinks and URLs, so they are short and simple. A lot of my links are really long and don’t work well with SEO.

I wanted to start with an update of a poetry edit I made a while ago as I came up with a different graphic and look for the image which I originally blogged about on the 14th of October, 2019. I wrote a poem from Leia to Ben called “The Light”, which then turned into a graphic and has now been updated to a GIF and a better graphic lol because I kept changing my mind about what I wanted it to look like.

Here’s the graphic I made in October with the poem added:

Made by Darkside Creative

And here’s the updated graphic I made on Tuesday:

And the GIF I made:

So that’s one thing I wanted to update for ages, and now I’ve finally done it. 😁 I am interested to see how well it does on Pinterest because these types of graphics are huge there!

I’ll be continuing the clean-up and blogging as I go. Thanks for reading; stay safe out there, and I’ll catch you in my next post, Star Wars friends!
