SWTOR Update – February 20th Legacy of the Sith Has Launched!

Happy weekend fellow Star Wars friends, and welcome to another SWTOR update! I’ve done very little writing this weekend because I’ve been spending all my free time inside SWTOR after the launch of Legacy of the Sith on Wednesday. While I haven’t been able to access any new content yet, the new Cartel Market packs were released (finally!), so I’ve been busy trading.

No new armour this time around (kinda odd), but we did get quite a few new items, one new lightsaber, which is really nice and this little thing 🥰😍

Where’s Grogu?

This new item is only 240 cartel coins, and it doesn’t have Grogu in it but still – IT’S so adorable. I know there will be people in the game who will love this as much as I do. Therefore, I am sure it will sell for millions 😊🤑🤑

I’ve also come up against some pretty solid competition on the GTN in terms of other traders. I’ve managed to identify a couple of new names, but I know some older nametags from years back. And they’re STILL trading like I am, lol. I wonder if they think the same thing about me hehe 😎🤨 Flipping items on the GTN has never been so much fun (and challenging). I am trying a new strategy to see if it works. I’ll let you know how I get on.

Just a short update today. Thanks for reading; keep safe, and I’ll catch you in the next post!

SWTOR Update – 12 February 2022 Legacy of the Sith

Hello there, fellow Star Wars fans! Another SWTOR Update for February 12th (feel free to tune on out if you’re not into SWTOR) 👍😊

One crucial thing to talk about today is the big SWTOR story update coming next week (February 15th) called “The Legacy of the Sith”. As you can tell by the title, it’s probably going to be a dark path our characters need to follow. Most likely focusing on the sith and their expansion further into the galaxy. I’m all for this, of course, seeing the majority of my characters in SWTOR are all Darksiders (hehe) 😉😊

But I am a long way from updating my story to the latest expansion. You see, I became very disillusioned with the game several times over the 10 or so years of playing it. And that meant that I stopped playing for long periods as I played other games. I am sure most people that play video games can relate to this. You play a game for so long, and eventually, people leave, friends stop playing, guilds disband, you know the drill. It became too much of a chore to keep playing independently, so I stopped. My partner also stopped playing, which was a big blow because we played together all the time. So I eventually left SWTOR (several times), and that meant falling behind in the expansions.

So while I might not be able to play Legacy of the Sith straightaway, I am looking forward to the new gear and new packs they will most likely release the same day. As trading is my number one thing (next to working towards Legendary status), I am pretty excited about it. I have no idea what they’ll release, but given the latest shows, including Boba Fett, I expect some look-alike armour there, maybe even Luke’s or Fennecs.

Trading update

Today I made a collector or trader very happy by selling two pieces of rare armour I’ve had forever. I did a bit of tidying up today while I traded. It was the fastest sale I think I’ve ever had for two pieces of armour, both selling for the maximum price of 1 BILLION credits each. They’re most likely wealthy and armour collectors like me who bought them. Nobody would purchase those pieces unless they knew exactly how rare they were. So I made a nice collection of credits today, working towards my target of whatever the maximum is. I am trying to figure out just what the legacy limit is for credits by collecting credits, lol 😅

Thanks for reading; keep safe, and I’ll catch you in the next post!

Goal Setting Check-in #1 for 2022

Hi, there, friends and readers! Me again, coming at you with a catch-up post about goal setting or failure as the case may be. If you’re anything like me, you’ve tried to reach SO many goals in the past, but you’ve struggled to complete them. You’ve started off with the best intentions;  you know what you need to achieve and have a good idea of how. But you’re still not reaching them. Why do you think that is?

I am no self-help guru, lol. In fact, it’s pretty funny considering how many times I’ve failed in the past. I tend to hit some goals but not every goal for various reasons – primarily lack of motivation and laziness. I will be blunt here. There is no fooling around with goal setting; it is SERIOUS business 😅. Well, it can be for some. I think I’ve mellowed out a lot over the years. And I don’t see goal setting the way I used to (which was do or die, lol). I’m happy to achieve one of my goals, let alone an entire list.

So this year, I created a goal-setting non-goal setting list to change things up a bit. So how far have I progressed since then? I “officially” started on January 02 this year. Here is my first post about it. And this is my list:

  1. Read more books – at this stage, I have like five books I am reading but never finishing. I don’t know why that is, but I seem to get distracted by other things easily. So this step is to at least finish FIVE books this year. Not that many, considering how many books I used to read (usually a book a week). I just stopped reading entirely, and I want to go back to enjoying reading again.
  2. Work on my fitness. Last year I was diagnosed with hypertension (high blood pressure), and I need to get fitter, even in small steps. I will buy a treadmill soon, and I’ll slowly track my progress.
  3. To care less about social media and more about the well-being of my family, myself and others. I want to become a better person in general.
  4. To formulate a plan for my writing and where I need or want to take it in future. This could even mean leaving my current job to pursue writing again, I’m not sure, but it’s a HUGE step which is why I need to make a plan with smaller steps to work through so I can achieve it. This goal might take more than a year to put in place; I just can’t confirm that yet. It’s definitely a super-goal I need to break down into smaller steps.

So far, I have worked exceptionally hard towards the first goal, and I’ve read two books since then and a comic. I’ve reviewed the star wars book and the comic here and the non-fiction graphic design book over on my writing/book reviewing blog here.

With number two on the list, I started out walking a lot more, but when we (New Zealand) went back into “semi lock-down”, I lost motivation to continue that. I am still walking every day when I get the chance, but I’m not pushing myself very hard, and I know I can do better. So we’ll say that I’ve started that goal, and it’s currently a positive “work in progress”.

With number three on my list, “care less about social media, – I have failed terribly there. It will take a lot more effort than I initially anticipated to walk away from caring about social media. That said, though, my partner and I have a “no internet” rule after 6:30 pm each night, and we’ve never broken that once so far. So I feel like I am slowly contributing towards this goal but mostly indirectly.

I am also still cleaning up this blog, which ties into this goal. I accidentally deleted a whole lot of followers from my blog the other day, and I am slowly working my way through reinviting them back. SO SORRY if I deleted you, it was entirely by mistake, and I’ll get back to inviting you soon, so don’t worry if you see me following you again sometime soon, lol 🤣😝.

And finally, number four was to formulate a plan for my writing – there is an event that has impacted this goal in a big way which happened to me very recently. So, for now, planning to do anything with my writing is officially on hold. In a really short time, I managed to leave one of the websites I was writing for (as a reviewer) and get a new job, one I’ve wanted for a while. I couldn’t get this job last year because there were no openings. But a position opened up recently, and I was asked to apply by the team manager, and I got the job! To be clear, it’s not a full-time writing job, but it is a job that I actually want to do, so I feel terrific about it!

And now I am keen to hear all about your goal setting or achievements so far this year! And remember – IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW BIG or important the goal is because everything can be done in little steps. What’s important is that you take a step! Talk to you soon friends, hit me up in the comments where I’ll be hanging out to chat ☺️😊

Star Wars Star Wars the Old Republic SWTOR

SWTOR Update – 31 January 2022

Hello there, fellow Star Wars fans! Another SWTOR Update 31 January (feel free to tune on out if you’re not into SWTOR) 👍😊

So what has happened since my previous update? Well, quite a lot, actually! In my earlier post, I mentioned working towards Legendary status in the game, which involves completing all eight class missions. It’s a pretty big deal to do this (in my opinion) because it shows that you have mastered the basics of the game well enough to finish eight different playthroughs. I DO consider it a big deal because I’ve wanted this particular achievement ever since I can remember (a long time). And I am happy to say that I am still chipping away at all three storylines, with the Jedi Knight story very close to completion! 🥳🤩

I am also working on the others, and I am at or very close to the second chapter for the Smuggler storyline and the Trooper storyline. There are three chapters to each storyline, so about halfway. I am pretty happy about it because I’ve been so lazy in the past and promised myself I’d do it (and never did). Now, I am focused enough to do it – with no more “but’s…”

On the trading side of things, the game has all but halted to a complete stand-still for me. Without products to sell on the GTN, there is no way to make any credits within the game. I have never struggled this hard before. So I blame this entire thing on a) having too many nice things to sell and not selling them (totally me). And b) not having any new Cartel Market packs to buy because, for some reason, Bioware hasn’t released any in almost two months! Now it is getting very close to the launch of the new update (7.0). So I guess they’re not going to release anything new until then. HOWEVER – if they do, they might include the Dark Sabre in the new packs! And I am hoping so hard they do! 😍😍😍😅

I also thought I’d make a semi-regular TRADING only post a couple times a month. I’d like to discuss selling, trading and making credits in SWTOR.

Thanks for reading; keep safe, and I’ll catch you in the next post!

Adobe Photoshop Art Update – When Art Gets Abandoned

Hello creativity lovers! A quick break from Star Wars content for this post so I can finally update my blog with the art I’ve been making over the last few weeks. For anyone who is here purely for the Star Wars content, do not fret, my friends! This blog celebrates Star Wars AND creativity, so I post about art-related topics every now and then. If you want to see more of my art-related posts, you can do that right here! Some of it will also be Star Wars art, but some like this piece are not related to Star Wars.

And speaking of tutorials, I have done a couple of tutorials that I haven’t posted about, and one of them I did last year! I put that one on hold because I became a little frustrated with the process. If I remember correctly😅 I abandoned it and revisited it several months later, and funnily enough, I finished it, and it came out really well (I think!) So I’d like to blog about that one today, I won’t be going through the tutorial today, but I might write about the process later on. For now, I just want to show my friends what I’ve done because I struggled with this one a fair bit.

There was no PSD to work with either, so you had to do everything following the online tutorial from scratch. Here is the original poster:

ORIGINAL poster design

I had many issues getting the text to the correct size and alignment. So when I stopped, I left it half done, and it looked like this:

When I came back to the poster after many months, I decided I would do whatever I could to get the text and alignment right, and I came up with two versions of the original. I finally decided to change the colours of the final version to reflect more of “me” into it, I guess. And then I animated it for a bit of fun and I think it came out great:

I guess the moral of my story is sometimes putting things down for another day is the best thing you can possibly do. Especially if you’re stuck and going nowhere. Art can be a fantastic thing, but it can also be frustrating. It’s all part of that creative process 😊😁 Just don’t give up and come back another day!

I am trying to learn how to design posters. And this was the first typographic poster I’ve tried to make. So you’ll be seeing more of this type of art as I learn and grow – but with less frustration lol 😂🤣 If you have any comments about this art or any of my art, feel free to leave me a comment. I always reply!

Thanks for reading and supporting me. Catch you in my next post, friends – stay safe out there and as always – keep creating!
