Motion Art Update

Some of you may be wondering why I haven’t been uploading motion art lately. There’s no particular reason really, I have just switched my focus to writing more than creating Star Wars art. I have two other blogs that I maintain regularly so that takes up a fair bit of my spare time now. But I have been making motion art which I’m uploading today for everyone to check out.

Nothing fancy, just a few images from Star Wars Battlefront II –

Hello, there

Remember this image I made using this Photoshop tutorial? I decided to animate it and thought it looked pretty nice 🙂

And an animation request I received on Pinterest to animate this Grim Reaper image (although it doesn’t really look like a Grim Reaper to me – more like a Death Knight or even a Nazgul as he is holding a sword)

There are a few more pieces but I’ll upload those at a later date. For now, enjoy the art and let me know what you think in the comments!

Stay safe out there everyone and I’ll catch you in tomorrow’s Pick Me Up Friday’s Post!

Star Wars Quote of the Day – Obi-Wan Kenobi

I am not going to lie, this quote from Obi-Wan although overly used these days by pretty much everyone, is the best when he says it for the first time in A New Hope. He just adds so much to the quote, I can’t explain it really. Even though it’s not really “power” behind the way he delivers this line, there is so much to it — it gives me goosebumps sometimes.

And when Luke says it it’s also pretty cool too 🙂

Photoshop Tutorial Review – Realistic Clouds in a Coffee Cup

I’m slowly getting back into reviewing tutorials again. As some of you may know, I started a podcast and a new blog about movies recently with my partner which has been taking up a lot of my spare time to launch and create content for.

I am now ready to create again and make more of a mess in Photoshop 🤣 I decided to get back into things slowly with this cute tutorial for creating a “Clouds in a Coffee Cup” photo manipulation.

In this tutorial, you will go from this:

To this and if you zoom right in on this image, you’ll see a sailing ship sailing on a sea of clouds!

Made by Darkside Creative

This was really easy to achieve using layer masks, cloud brushes and two different images for the composite.

Time: 30 minutes

Level: Beginner Level

Comment: This was a written instruction tutorial and not a video tutorial but it was perfectly easy to follow along with. Bonus points for all of the assets being available for you to use from the link above.

This tutorial also provides you with a copy of the PSD if you need to check out how it was created by the tutor. I prefer not to use the PSDs provided and create my own which I highly recommend you do as well.

Rating: 10/10

Fiery Grim Reaper Motion Art – Follow Up Post

So I decided to animate the image I finished yesterday because I thought it would like kinda cool with a little animation. I also edited the image and took out a few layers that I didn’t think suited the final image I was trying to achieve (different from the tutorial).

Edited Image:

And motion art which I had to resize to fit onto social media:

Let me know what you think about my art? Should I keep doing more of these more complex tutorials or stick to the beginner’s stuff? Let me know in the comments, your feedback is appreciated!

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Animation and Edit

The new Jedi Fallen Order game had some excellent coverage today from EA Play which I am watching as I write this and I can tell you now, it looks impressive. At first, I wasn’t sure if I’d be keen to actually play it, even if it is a Star Wars game. But the in-game footage looks incredible and very polished, even for Alpha footage. So, I’ll probably be playing it when it releases. I might also pre-order.

To celebrate the new footage, I spent some time making a couple of edits yesterday.

And an animated poster with my own touch-ups:
