Cobra Kai Edits – Cobra Kai renewed for a third season!!

I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this before but my other burning passion besides Star Wars, of course, is the hit YouTube streaming show Cobra Kai. For those of you who don’t know anything about it, it’s basically a show all about the two main characters from The Karate Kid universe; Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and how they’ve managed to survive 30 years after The Karate Kid.

Season One basically follows Johnny’s story and let’s just say he’s pretty down and out and living a life void of friendship, love and well, just about anything good. You also get to see Daniel LaRusso who is the picture perfect example of the high-life in Los Angeles; he’s successful and has a loving relationship with a lovely family. Obviously, these two people living very different lives somehow collide, and that’s the basic premise for Season One.

Season Two which released a couple of weeks ago, picks up exactly where the first season dropped off introducing one of Johnny’s worst enemy’s in John Kreese who is very much alive and kicking (no pun intended). And yesterday they just officially announced Season Three but also confirmed that all episodes would be FREE on YouTube Premium! Honestly, that’s a huge deal because the first two seasons are subscriber-only access. So I think it’s safe to say the show is doing really, really well.

To celebrate this fandom and my journey forward into Graphic Design, I made a few edits for Season Three. I hope you like them and if not, that’s OK too 🙂 This is best place to post what I create until I’m game enough to start a portfolio of my own on Behance or Instagram 🙂

Oh my god, I am teaching myself Adobe After Effects… wish me luck!

I’ve finally given in and I’ve decided that I need to learn Adobe After Effects so I can animate just about anything, including text. It’s actually not as difficult as I thought it would be. Once you know how to use Adobe Photoshop, After Effects is actually pretty straightforward – obviously, it’s very different to how I’ve been animating my edits, clips and motion art in the past, but it’s a great tool and people swear by it so I felt it was time.

Once I’ve finished my first animation, I’ll post it here so you can see just how much of a newbie I am 🙂

Here is the graphic I put together for the animation edit I want to do:

WHOAREYOUEDIT01

and yes, it’s Kylo Ren surprise surprise 😉

And here are the words I put together for the edit but I’m not sure how I’m going to use them as yet, you’ll have to wait and see 🙂

Who are you …
if not the mask?
Are you anger?
…hate?
…fear?

No…

Who are you…
without the mask?
A fatherless child
…broken warrior
…frightened boy

Looking for the way home…
Looking for the way out
Looking for the balance

you will never find

… without love

Star Wars Post – two more edits and motion art

I’ve been making things inbetween thinking about my fanfic, so far the thinking part is fine but it’s the writing down and fleshing out the ideas part that isn’t. So I’ve decided to keep things focused on Star Wars imagery to help me visualise what I need to write. The good news is I have a two week holiday coming up like most people do for the holidays, so I’ve decided that will be the best time for me to create the rest of the plot for my fanfic. I need to decide if the story is worth picking up from what I’ve already written OR if it will just be easier for me to write a brand new fic with maybe a few ideas taken from the original. Being a sporadic writer, it’s a bigger challenge for me to actually write. I struggle when I don’t feel inspired and even though many famous writers say that this is the most crucial time to write, I fail at doing this. If I don’t feel it, I can’t fake my way through creating a character or a scene. It’s not that I am not dedicated enough, it’s that I just can’t force creativity when there’s nothing to create with or from in the first place. Qui Gon Jin vs Darth Maul – Duel on Tatooine by Chris Trevas

The encounter between Darth Maul and Qui Gon Jin on Tatooine was one of the best moments of the Star Wars prequel movie, along with the very last light sabre battle (of course). The only thing I enjoy doing these days is making motion art, gifs and writing really bad fanfic. So I’ll be continuing to blog here with anything I create. For now, SWTOR is taking a back seat in a big way. I haven’t played for some time now, but that’s a topic for another post.

Star Wars “Who Am I?” – Darth Marr

DARTH MARR STAR WARS PROFILE 05

Reading about all of these Star Wars characters really makes me think of other possibilities, especially for the future of the franchise. Darth Marr was one of my favourite NPCs in Star Wars the Old Republic and I really wanted for him to become a playable companion (which never happened). The first thing I noticed about Darth Marr was his armour which makes him look extremely formidable and rightly so. Darth Marr was extremely strong in the dark side of the force, strong enough that he became a force ghost and spent time in exile with Satele Shan. Darth Marr is also famous for never showing his face and no one has ever seen him unmasked (as far as Wookiepedia is concerned, anyway).

Star Wars “Who Am I?” – Kylo Ren

KYLO REN - STAR WARS PROFILE 02

I know that I said I would be doing profiles of lesser-known Star Wars characters, but I just adore Kylo Ren – next to Darth Vader, he is my favourite Star Wars villain (Darth Vader pips him at the post but only just). So I’ve decided I will try and do one profile every day until I run out of characters to profile (not likely – remember the EU?) Continue reading → Star Wars “Who Am I?” – Kylo Ren
