Star Wars Art by Mishie Chua – is AMAZING!

This art is beautiful on its own, but for continuity, I made a minimal edit to separate these images from the mural here:

Kylux Animation – Kylo and General Hux

I’ve never posted anything relating to Kylux on this blog because I’m not really into the ship at all but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate someone else’s artistic genius. I stumbled upon this on Tumblr today and I just couldn’t believe how beautifully touching and moving it was… I mean you need to look beyond the aesthetic and to the simplistic yet emotional narrative occurring between the two characters.

This artist on Tumblr created these images of Kylo Ren and General Hux lying in their bed, Kylo with his back to Hux and facing the wall. There are only a few words shared in the images but it’s a very powerful exchange that I just couldn’t ignore. I had to do something with this beautiful art.

So I created a small movie clip in Microsoft Photos. I wanted a change from using Adobe software and wanted to go as bare bones as possible. I created an MP4 out of the clip and added a little atmospheric music to it. I think it makes such an impact, it’s so sad and tragic yet beautiful all at the same time. I think the music helps to deliver that, I dunno, that’s what I think anyway. If you want to check out the original art it’s here.

Star Wars Edits – Kylo Ren Art by Unknown

I found this Kylo Ren art piece when I was trying to find images for Pinterest and I decided I liked it so much I would animate it. The style reminds me a lot of Venamis (Eli Hyder) on Instagram but it doesn’t look like it’s his so I have no idea who to credit this art to… I tried reverse images searches using several search engines and came up blank. I tried to make out the signature, it looks like NianTu but I didn’t want to credit incorrectly 🙁

Here’s the art in question:

And here is my animated edit which I saved from a different website before I had found the image above. Looks like someone cropped out the artist’s name 😡

Star Wars GIF – Rey by Claudia Poppe

I haven’t been doing a lot of Star Wars animation lately, and I’ve noticed it because my IG isn’t getting updated as much as it used to with edits. But that’s OK because I have been spending a lot more time on other creative pursuits such as my writing and honing my Photoshop skills.

But I felt in the mood to animate something so I found this awesome art by Claudia Poppe and decided it might look cool as a GIF:

Kylo Ren and Rey – Darkside, Lightside, The Glowing side!

I found this beautiful art by Kasiopea on Tumblr and instantly saw this image as two separate images both black and white with a mysterious “glow” around the outside. Don’t ask me why I saw that, that is just what popped into my head! Obviously, the original is perfect and beautiful and awesome, but that is what I saw, so I had to at least try and make it happen.

I wanted to learn this technique for a while after seeing it in action on Tumblr (a lot of people use this technique to make their otherwise dull and bland images or quotes come to life). It’s so simple, I almost cried 😂 (but seriously) – it’s really easy.

I’ll be writing a neat and quick tutorial post about it soon but until then… and here it is in practice:

Star Wars – Luke Skywalker Comic Cover Edits

When I created the Mezzopop Mezzotint Photoshop effect the other day, I had actually forgotten all about it until I was editing this comic cover. So I thought, why not test it out and see how it looks on a Star Wars edit.

If you’ve been a follower of my blog you’ll know that one of my favourite things to do is clean up images or edit comic covers by removing the text to show the underlying image. I do this because I am in awe of some of the comic cover art that adorns these comics. And sometimes text can be a very overpowering element in an image. Sometimes the image needs to breathe on its own. So I edit them.

Here is the original cover, art by David Marquez

And there is an official image without text as well but here is my edit:

Darth Maul Edit Art by thetechromancer on DeviantArt

A quick edit before I finish off my other Rey and Luke composite edit, here’s a beautiful piece by thetechromancer on DeviantArt with a little animation by me.

What do you reckon?
