This is an e-book that I’m currently reading and let’s just say that there are a lot of cross-references happening in the expanded Star Wars universe, and I mean, blatantly obvious references.

Here’s the first example which is taken from the first page of the book:

Star Wars is Poetry has returned!

I doubt anyone will remember the little project I started on this blog called “Star Wars is Poetry”. I started it because I felt that Star Wars itself is a whole lot more than just the movies and people may not really know how poetic a lot of the star wars writing actually is. You don’t really get to experience much of it if any of it watching the movies but the books and the comics are actually full of hidden poetic treasures and I wanted to perhaps unearth and share some of them within my “Star Wars is Poetry” blog posts.

Star Wars is Poetry – “The Balance”

Star Wars is Poetry – here is a poem I put together using Rey and Kylo Ren/Light and Dark/The Balance of the Force as inspiration. Hope you like it!

You
captured my heart
with a touch, with a touch
In a moment
lost in time’s embrace
We found our way to heaven

As darkness rises
In your light, I shall hide
until the pain, and the fear,
and the suffering
subside

For you
are the light
that saved me, that saved me
In that moment
lost in time’s embrace
We found our way to heaven

Star Wars is Poetry – The Emperor’s Warning

I can’t take any credit for finding this piece which I originally saw on a Reddit post. It comes from star wars comic Darth Vader #8 which might seem strange to use as a reference for Star Wars is Poetry, but when you look at the words and ‘feel’ those words, it doesn’t matter whether the source is a comic book, a film, a podcast or even a song; if the words have an impact on you, they are in my opinion, poetry.

Star Wars is Poetry – Guardians of the Whills

A snippet of text taken from the Star Wars book “Guardians of the Whills” by Greg Rucka

That which surrounds us, binds us.

In our connection to one, all is connected.

This is the truth of the Force, no more, no less:

Life binds the living.

That which rises must fall, and that which falls must rise.

From the first breath of the infant

To the last breath of the aged,

We are one, together.

—Kiru Hali, Sage of Uhnuhakka
