The Balance

This ideology of Good versus Evil, Dark versus Light. Does it really need to be there? If I decide to paint myself White and act with cruelty and malice, would it make any difference if I was painted white or yellow or green? No, it would not. And the opposite is also true. Therefore, for me, it is beyond the dark and the light and goes deeper. The Eastern principle of Yin and Yang fits the Star Wars characters so much better than light and dark. One cannot exist without the other, a person cannot be whole without both influences present and a star cannot shine without the darkness. Taken from this post of mine on Instagram. Image credit.

I’m alive and graphic!

Hey, people! Haven’t written in a while, only because I’ve spent as much of my time as possible getting back into creating graphics and images of my own for tumblr. I am not a graphic designer or anything of that nature, I am just a creative person who loves to create things, just one of my many (different) faces.

Here are a couple of edits and images I created using photoshop and canva. Enjoy!

Star Wars according to Tumblr

The Star Wars Universe according to the Tumblr fandom:

  1. Kylo Ren and Rey would actually be lovers (instead of sworn enemies fighting for two different sides of the force, light and dark)
  2. There would be an ‘Anti Reylo’ contingent who would do everything they could to stop Reylo from existing (so possibly a new faction or enemy)
  3. Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) would be a prominent figure and a sex idol
  4. Porgs would be a force to be reckoned with (not sure if they can also use the force but yeah…)
  5. Mark Hamill would be a god and would look the same as he did in Star Wars A New Hope
  6. Obi Wan Kenobi would also still be alive and possibly Rey’s father or relation
  7. Hayden Christensen as Anakin would also be some type of omnipotent being who also stays forever young
  8. Princess Leia and Padme Amidala would be fashionistas, bigger than Gucci and Prada combined
  9. John Boyega and Oscar Isaac would feature heavily as good-looking people who everyone loves
  10. Kylo Ren (man of the moment) might also be seeing General Hux on the side as Kylux

This is Tumblr – pick a side

I’ve briefly talked about the Tumblr community in a previous post but until now I’ve never really understood how serious everyone is about fandoms. I’ve been a real wuss about it, politely posting things that won’t offend anyone and keeping to myself. This is not who I am yet somehow I feel compelled to fall in line like all the other nobody’s.

Large scale battles are going on every day on Tumblr. I don’t know if this relates only to Star Wars but there seems to be a serious dislike between those fans who support the “Reylo” pairing (Kylo Ren with Rey) and those who don’t (called “anti’s”).

Speculation from some of these Tumblr users goes as far as accusing one another of supporting abuse and incest. This is one time where I am happy to be a nobody.

What being a Star Wars fan means to me

After a rather overly excited moment at the computer, I’ve managed to compose myself so I can write about the new Star Wars The Last Jedi trailer. If you’ve seen the trailer, you’ll know what I’m talking about. The trailer is just amazing! That said, some of my fellow Star Wars friends are refusing to watch it because they don’t want to see any potential movie spoilers. This situation makes it harder for me to get in touch with my inner fangirl.

I have a friend who is also totally devoted to Star Wars except we celebrate our fandom quite differently. He refuses to watch any footage prior to seeing a new film and will refuse to speak of it at all. I respect his decision but I don’t entirely understand it. I’ve never been one to worry about spoilers, in fact, I welcome them, and I have had to practice serious restraint when writing reviews so I don’t reveal anything to my audience. This is a lot harder to do than you might think, especially when you’re writing about something you’re passionate about. It’s like you can see this amazing thing and you want to celebrate this amazing thing but you cannot, under any circumstances, discuss the real reason or reasons why. You can skirt around the topic all you like and maybe even write a very small teaser or two but you can never cross the line into spoiler territory. This is the (mostly) unspoken rule of an entertainment writer.

My argument is that it’s just so much fun to think about and talk about the “what ifs?” I love watching fan made video clips and watching other fans celebrate their fandom with the world. I enjoy thinking about and writing about what could happen in The Last Jedi because it’s fun and exciting to do. If you follow the star wars tag on Tumblr, you’ll be exposed to this type of content from fans who aren’t afraid to let their minds wander through all the possibilities. I believe it’s one of those things that only a true fan could really understand. So I’m fine with those people who don’t want to talk about how exciting the new trailer is, but in my world, that’s the very reason behind why I do what I do and what it means to be a true Star Wars fan.

The new Star Wars: The Last Jedi footage just ended me

/Star Wars Fangirling rant

HOLY HOLY CRAP people – okay, as you can probably tell, I’m REALLY excited right now, and I even have watery eyes (so not actually crying but kinda close). IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE NEW STAR WARS THE LAST JEDI FOOTAGE yet, YOU just have to, you really really do.

That is all

SWTOR – The buying and selling of credits

Image result for swtor gold spammers

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged about SWTOR because I’ve been busy updating the fanfic and Tumblr and I was waiting for something worthwhile to blog about. If you’ve played video games online for as long as I have (10+ years), you’ll probably know that there are always ways to “pay to win” if you’re playing a game that is established enough. You may have read all about “gold spammers” or even experienced the email or message “spam” that you sometimes get in your in-game mailbox. Well, I can tell you from personal experience that gold sellers are no joke and whilst the “spamming” might be momentarily annoying, you can be sure that those spammers are earning REAL money from the gold/credits they advertise and people DO buy and sell online.

If you’ve been following any of my previous SWTOR posts you’ll know that I have amassed a large amount of SWTOR in-game currency totalling in the billions. To have that amount of in-game currency took a lot of real world time, effort and diligence to acquire, not to mention real money to acquire a portion of it. Most of the time I generate credits by running “mules” (these are NOT bots as I am actually playing them when I trade) that I trade with on the GTN either with items I’ve acquired via the Cartel Market or items I’ve made in-game. To gain credits in SWTOR consistently you need to consider various avenues of generating credits to do it successfully (in my experience anyway).

After a friend introduced me to a website where you can buy and sell online items and currency legitimately (so not by using stolen items or currency from hacked or stolen accounts), I have been considering selling some of my in-game wealth for real money. The way I see it is, if I have all these items and credits just sitting there doing nothing, I might as well try and recoup some of the real money I’ve spent in the game, right? I mean that makes total sense to me. And there are quite a few legit and well-established websites that have been working with online traders, buyers and sellers for years. This was definitely news to me. The only type of online selling I had ever been exposed to was via spam, gold sellers and online gaming forums. But it’s something I am considering doing in the very near future.

I’ll keep you guys posted on how things go. In the meantime, have any of you gamers out there experienced online gold selling/buying or spammers? Or even considered selling online yourself? Let me know, I’m keen to read about your experiences!
