Star Wars Is Poetry – Comic Book Update: The Mandalorian Comic Adaptation

Hello, my Star Wars friends! It has been a wee while since I updated everyone on life on the Darkside (recently, it’s pretty dark :(). But this is an update worthy of a post, so comic book fans (and Mandalorian fans) should be rejoicing!

Star Wars dot com recently announced the launch of The Mandalorian comic book adaptation from Marvel. Marvel and Star Wars often come together in the comic book area, so it’s nothing new really. But it’s a first for The Mandalorian getting his own comic book adaptation!

Check out the excellent cover:

As it’s a comic book adaptation of the show, there won’t really be a whole lot to tell if you’ve already seen the Disney Plus series. However, sometimes they (writers) change things up a little in comics, even if they’re adaptations, so there’s that to look forward to! Plus, everyone loves Din Djarin – I mean, he is really popular with fans, so I imagine A LOT of people will be buying this comic. I’m not sure if I will review it myself (assuming it doesn’t sell out first, which is quite likely). I guess there will always be an online version somewhere (usually), so that’s always an option.

I am thinking of buying a yearly subscription to Star Wars Insider magazine in other book-related news. In fact, I am pretty close to signing up, so I’ll be reviewing content in those magazines too! The Star Wars Insider magazines are well-known to the fandom as they’ve been around for quite a while now. These magazines are official Star Wars magazines, so it’s a good move for me. I have various Star Wars Insider magazines of my own already, and I bought some “special edition” copies a while back that featured the best of Star Wars Insider for a specific period. But I want to expand on my collection, so this is the best way to do that. Plus, I adore their covers (I am a massive sucker for comic book and book covers, and now that includes magazines) 😁

SWCU – The Book of Boba Fett S01 Episode 06 Review

🛑‼️THIS REVIEW IS NOT SPOILER-FREE. PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS🛑‼️

EPISODE SIX

Welcome fellow Star Wars fans to another update/review and discussion. I say discussion because there is something I wanted to discuss regarding the latest episode separately. I am keen to see what my readers think because my Instagram readers are all a mixed bag of views on this.

So here’s the question which you can think about while I pick apart episode six of The Book of Boba Fett. The question is (only for those that have seen it obviously) “Do you think the latest episode was purely fan-service or do you think it was genuinely entertaining?”

On with the review – so there will be spoilers (if you managed to not read my spoiler banner above, you should click away right about now). I went into this episode completely unaware of who would be in it. I had a feeling already that Grogu might reappear because of The Mandalorian’s path heading right back to him again. This means that Luke Skywalker could also appear. But there were two other characters that were also very exciting to see which I didn’t know about being Ahsoka Tano and Cad Bane.

LUKE SKYWALKER PADAWAN TO MASTER VIA BINGEWATCHTHIS_ on Twitter

Some fans are criticising this episode saying the script was seriously lacking and relying on “fan service” to appeal to the fandom. Did we need to see Luke Skywalker for this story to progress? Absolutely! I believe Luke being who he is (and his importance), it’s inevitable that the story of Boba Fett AND Din Djarin would include him. Luke is on the precipice of creating the Jedi Academy which was or is a huge deal in Legends lore. I am not sure where they’ll go with Luke’s story. But the fact that he’s in this show is a good indication of where Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau (and the other writers) might be going with Boba Fett and even Mando’s storylines.

Boba Fett may not be in every episode of his show but that doesn’t mean it’s not his story. I understand why some fans are a little unhappy about all of these huge Star Wars characters appearing in his show. But perhaps there is a good reason for it? I think as an audience we need to have a little more faith in the creators and their processes. When I read comments about this episode I see fans calling out the series as not being about Boba Fett at all. And I understand that too. But I am going to push those comments aside and focus on what may lie ahead; kinda like Luke does 😄😃 And I find that to be really exciting!

“All his life has he looked away… to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was.”

We also see other minor characters reappearing like Cobb Vanff who has quickly become a fan favourite. Timothy Olyphant does a fantastic job as the “western” Sheriff looking after his people in the middle of the dune sea. What happens to him is HUGE as well but nobody even talked about that😅. Everyone focused on the lack of Boba Fett and the other characters showing up.

Did anyone even care about Cad Bane?? He’s only one of the most skilled bounty hunters in the Star Wars universe!

It’s not silly for the writers to want Luke, Mando and Boba all in the same show. This is completely new territory for the creators and writers. Nobody really knows what happened after the years that followed the Rebellion in Ep 06. There is a huge amount of time after Vader’s death and the new Jedi order being created by Luke. They are merely trying to write the best story that cohesively joins all of the main characters of their shows together.

My final comments are really nothing more than advice if anyone wants to take it. And that is if you’re dead-set as fans to dislike where Boba’s story is going, you’re probably not going to like what happens next. From what I’ve read, Boba’s story was only ever meant to be one standalone season. And could explain why they’ve got so many other characters involved.

So that’s it from me for another episode – please tell me what you thought and loved about this episode! I will be in the comments as always. MTFBWY! Have a good weekend 😄😃

SWCU – The Book of Boba Fett S01 Episode 5 Review

🛑‼️THIS REVIEW IS NOT SPOILER-FREE. PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS🛑‼️

EPISODE FIVE

OMG, WOW, WHAT AN EPISODE!!!!! SO this week’s episode is directed by none other than Bryce Dallas-Howard herself! AND THIS IS THE WHOLE FANDOM RIGHT NOW:

LOL, this is totally us right now after that fantastic episode! IMAGE CREDIT DISNEY/LUCASFILM

And I dunno about you, but I felt something VERY different about this episode from the minute THIS HAPPENED:

FANS are really hyped about this one for so many reasons. I mean, it’s hard to even define because it was SO good! But I’m going to do my best to talk about the best parts of this episode without spoiling it TOO much (there will be spoilers as warned above, so stop reading now if you don’t want them!)

I am not gonna lie. I had to remind myself that this wasn’t The Mandalorian Season 3, lol! Because it certainly felt that way – I mean Pedro Pascal is AMAZING as Din Djarin, and I am not saying better than Boba Fett! They are very different parts of the Star Wars story, and I choose to say nothing more about that. But fans are speculating madly about where this season will go, and WE have to talk about the possibilities because OMG, super exciting!

The episode is called “RETURN OF THE MANDALORIAN”, so it’s a no-brainer what this episode is focused on. But wow, we got so much goodness from this episode – the tie-in with Boba Fett is going to be huge! Also so many references to historical events in the Mandalorian timeline; it was just such a special episode because of that. AND we get to see PAZ VIZSLA and the return of the DARK SABER!! I was going a little insane with that scene between Paz Vizsla AND Mando. I mean, who would have thought those two would end up DUELING EACH other for the sabre?? We are getting so spoiled with this show now, I swear!

ISN’T IT JUST BEAUTIFUL – the sabre, I mean LOL, but Din is pretty lovely too 😛

NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL PODRACING!!! Oh MY gosh, that whole scene taking us back to Tatooine and to Anakin’s podracing competition in a NABOO STARSHIP!! Seriously, guys, Star Wars doesn’t get much better than this right now. IT is honestly so great I could gush about it for hours. And then, seeing Din Djarin using the starship and going through the canyon – I almost lost my mind. I was so giddy with happiness lol 😁😆

And according to Ming-Na Wen, we ain’t seen nothing yet! I mean, she said we’d think very differently about TBOBF after it finishes. So I CANNOT WAIT to see what they bring us next. Over on Reddit, they make predictions about what will happen next. And they talk about rumours and speculation. And out of all of the stuff I’ve read this week, the best one is that Han will show up with a very young Ben Solo as a cameo. It’s either that OR obviously, Luke and Grogu will appear, and Grogu might even have his own Padawan outfit! Can you imagine how many toys will sell when that happens 😁😆 (and how many I’m going to buy lol).

So that’s it from me for another episode – please tell me what you thought and loved about this episode and anything else that takes your fancy! I will be in the comments as always wielding that dark sabre (lol, I wish!)

Star Wars Fandom – Alternative Edit of Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian

Remember that scene, in The Mandalorian, with that guy Luke Skywalker? THE BEST SCENE EVER! Someone on Reddit edited the sound and added “Funeral Pyre For A Jedi” by John Williams – and wow, you have to listen to this with your headphones on; it is AMAZING!

Only a quick update today, my friends, as I have just arrived home from work (had to go into the office YUK), and I have a mountain of writing to do. I hope you enjoyed the clip above. Let me know if you know of any other awesome edits like this so I can spread the Star Wars love 😊

Hit me up in the comments, readers and let me know how you’re all getting on!

Star Wars the Mandalorian Tie-in Books Cancelled?

I got this little tidbit of information from another Star Wars blog I have just started following, which you can check out right here. So I did a little researching online to confirm these findings just because that’s what any half-decent blogger and writer would do.

And it looks like many other reputable media outlets are also confirming the cancellation of books tied into The Mandalorian. io9 had this to say about the cancellation:

The question, of course, is why? These books were obviously something that had been in the works for a while, so an immediate thought could be that Lucasfilm’s recent disassociation with Gina Carano was the reason. Carano’s character, Cara Dune, has been a big part of The Mandalorian’s story up to now and it seems likely she would have been a big part of these two books. That speculation is backed up by the fact Dune has begun to be phased out in other aspects of Star Wars, including toys and even the Topps digital trading card app, where her photo was swapped out for that of Fennic Stand.

It seems, though, that’s not the case. A source close to Disney Publishing told us the reason for the cancellation was due to scheduling and unrelated to anything regarding Cara Dune.

So it doesn’t look like the whole debacle over Gina Carano getting cancelled has anything to do with this move from Disney. We think that’s a good thing even though, as I type this, the cancellation of just about everything connecting Gina Carano to the franchise is being phased out. So it’s understandable fans would think that.

Any-who, I’m just glad I wasn’t hanging out for any of those books to release because that would be an absolute bummer 🙁 Have you ordered any of The Mandalorian tie-in books?

Let me know your thoughts in the comments as always, dear readers!
