One thing I’ve learned about Star Wars is that there are so many different characters, especially if you include the expanded universe (which includes games, comics, books, tv shows etc). So for kicks, I thought I’d do profiles on some of the perhaps lesser known star wars characters that fans may not have heard of. Like many Star Wars fans, I became a fan after watching the (original trilogy) films and never really focused on the expanded universe until much later on. Nowadays, there is no escaping the EU as it’s pretty much everywhere and with the new Sequel Trilogy movie releases, Star Wars is even more popular than it was, reaching much bigger (and younger) audiences. This bronze set is one I’ve never worn because I always thought these sets and similar sets (Magnificent Dancer etc) didn’t really have a purpose to them. Then, of course, I remember the “Slave” girl outfit Carrie Fisher was made to wear in Return of the Jedi while Luke gets dressed in an all-black ensemble and looks kick-ass. That kinda makes me squirm. This set and others like it really do belong in that category – armour sets only men could appreciate because they really make your character look like a hooker. That said, however, there are plenty of women who have since worn the outfit at conventions and in other popular culture who think the Slave costume is empowering. Yep, it says so right here. This week is shaping up to be a nice week for me, especially in the Star Wars arena. Firstly, my star wars work buddy and I ordered our copies of the Junior Novelisation of The Last Jedi and the expanded edition of The Last Jedi both of which should arrive in the next week or so. It’s way behind everyone else in the Northern hemisphere (almost always) but I am so excited to read them both. Secondly, I just pre-ordered the steel book version of The Last Jedi which is the first steel book Blu-Ray I’ve ever ordered. I am definitely coming late to the party but better late than never, right? And lastly, the SWTOR updates that are coming will be amazing and even though they’ve (EA/Bioware) pushed things back by a week for the update, I am definitely excited for what’s to come. This is gonna be short and sweet and I’ll blog more later but wow, am I excited for this new Cartel Pack releasing for 5.8. Not gonna lie I’ve already eyed up what I want from it, I mean how cool is that Dark Honor Guard’s Electroblade? Seriously… it’s awesome. The armour also looks tasty as does the new mount covered in what looks like actual armour. But if I’m honest, the one thing I really want is that new Light Saber – holy crap dude, it’s even nicer than the Vented Light Saber! Yup, I’m hyped 🙂
