Darkside Community Showcase – Neil

I’ve missed a couple of months for Community Showcase which I started back in June but it’s back this month! Today I am choosing a newer member of my community who has been one of my most supportive readers since we started following each other.

Neil is a friendly and funny guy. He always manages to say something humorous and in these trying times, sometimes you just need a giggle, am I right?

So if you’re looking for someone worth following, check out Neil’s blog right here. Neil blogs about a variety of things including using Blender, Linux, Windows and he also blogs about daily life.

I am always happy to promote my readers to give back a little of what they give to me – unconditional support and friendship.

So thank you Neil, your support means everything and is one of the reasons why I enjoy blogging so much.

Until my next post, stay safe out there everyone and I’ll catch you in the comments!

If you like my posts, you can check out more of them right here. You can also check out my Community Showcase series posts here.

And while you’re there, why not consider following me on Twitter, Instagram and right here, on WordPress.

How You Can Still Use Grammarly For Editing Posts

So I thought I’d post this really quickly because I know there are some writers using WordPress who still want to be able to use Grammarly as their editing software.

Well, it turns out that you can still use Grammarly just not from the post itself. I came across this purely by accident as I was editing tags and categories for one of my blogs. I started to edit one of the posts from inside the WP Admin part of the blog instead of from the post itself. If you search for your posts from the WP Admin section of your blog, you can edit using Grammarly! Pretty neat, huh?

I don’t know how long this will work for or whether they have plans to remove Grammarly as an editor entirely but it works for now so I say use it if you need to!

Also, if you’re wondering whether or not Grammarly can be used on your mobile devices, I have discovered that you can still use it on your mobile devices from within WordPress.

What about the Classic Editor?

Yup, you can use the classic editor from the WP Admin page as well AND you can still revert back to the classic editor on the mobile version of WordPress also 😁

I hope this post helps you out 😁 Let me know how you get on in the comments, friends!

Until tomorrow’s post, stay safe out there, please wear your masks and I’ll catch you all later.

What Do You Think of the New WordPress Editor?

Full disclosure, I actually avoided the new editor for ages when they were first introducing it on WordPress.

It is very versatile and a lot less “clunky” than the old editor. That is just my opinion and I’ve only been using the new one just today but so far so good.

This post was written over a couple of days as I was uploading content to the blog and I have now become a lot more familiar with the interface of the new editor.

I did think at first that there were some options missing from the older version but I’ve since discovered that is not the case. In fact, if you type the character “/” into a new block space, you will see just how much more you can add to your posts now! It’s really quite amazing.

For instance you can type / and then the drop-down list of options will appear and you can do all sorts of things like include GIFs directly from the Giphy website (a favourite of mine!)

One thing I did notice however, is that you cannot use Grammarly with the new editor. At least not that I can see. Whenever I try to edit now, the Grammarly icon at the bottom of the page has disappeared. If you know how to get Grammarly working with the new block editor, please let me know!

And also, let me know how you are finding the new editor overall yourself? Are you having any issues with it that you’d like to share? Let me know in the comments as I’d love to chin-wag about it with you 😁

Community Showcase – Cristian Mihai, Blogger Extraordinare

Welcome to the very first of my community showcase posts! As mentioned yesterday, I will be choosing one person each month from my list of followers to showcase on my blog.

This is not a “post for a post” or “guest post” type of blog post either, it’s just me saying thank you to some of the people who have supported me on this blog. And even though I may not interact with all of the people I’ll mention here, I want to show my appreciation just the same.

Cristian Mihai shouldn’t need an introduction. He has a very successful blog on WordPress, one that has thousands of followers! He is a very prominent force in the blogging world, and he is always offering his insights into the world of blogging.

If you want to learn what it takes to be a successful blogger on this platform, his blog is probably a good place to start.

Since Jun 13, 2017

So Cristian has been a follower of mine since Jun 13, 2017!  Back then, I don’t
think I blogged much at all. In fact, I was still figuring out whether or not I wanted a blog on WordPress at that point.

When I look at my stats from that period, they were terrible! I’d be lucky to get 10 views a day back then. So Cristian started following me way back when my blog was hardly a blog at all, and for that, I am extremely thankful.

Sometimes I want to ask people why they follow me just so I can understand what it is that gets people to press the “follow” button. It’s a simple thing to do but it can mean so much.

So thank you Cristian for sticking it out with me!

If you want to check out his blog on blogging, you can do so right here.

As always, be safe, everyone, and I’ll catch you on the next post!

If you want to read more about the people that inspire me, why not follow this blog which you can do right here!

Cartel Market Update 20/03/2018

The latest update on the Cartel Market has some interesting items for sale. The main one that caught my eye was the White colour crystals. I have quite a few of these stashed away so I’ll definitely be putting these up for sale soonish.
