Just so that you know I am still alive…

So for the last week or so I’ve been going straight to bed from work trying to get over this horrible flu. Everyone in my team has had it, and some people have had more than a week off work. So I haven’t been writing or doing much of anything during this time, and I am only starting to feel slightly better.

I thought I’d edit a poster for something different to do and not about Star Wars. Spider-Man Far From Home released recently, and I really love this poster of Tom Holland, so I decided to edit it and remove the text to make it textless. I also edited the colours, brightness and a few other things to make the colour more vibrant and more aesthetically pleasing for Instagram. What d’ya think?

Here’s the original image:

And my edit:

I am hoping to be back to my usual, creative self soon. A warm welcome to my new followers and an “I’ll be back soon” to all my friends and supporters 😊

Black Mirror Edit – The National Anthem

After watching Black Mirror again (it was some years ago when I first watched it) I felt really inspired to try my hand at another composite image. My goal is to get skilled enough to eventually make my own posters. This was always my goal and why I wanted to learn Graphic Design. I am quite a distance away from that goal, but edging ever closer.

I came up with the idea in the most random way, which is why I really wanted to try it. If you haven’t seen Black Mirror Season 1 Episode 1, you probably won’t understand the story behind the image and I’m not one to spoil things. If you’re interested in what Black Mirror is, here is the description in the writer’s words, Charlie Brooker:

If technology is a drug – and it does feel like a drug – then what, precisely, are the side effects? This area – between delight and discomfort – is where Black Mirror, my new drama series, is set. The ‘black mirror’ of the title is the one you’ll find on every wall, on every desk, in the palm of every hand: the cold, shiny screen of a TV, a monitor, a smartphone.[5]

So here is my composite image, it’s the first one I’ve done for myself, really. Everything else has mostly been practice or Star Wars related so I was ready to do something different:

I used stock images (getting into the habit of not using copyrighted images) for the main composite and Photoshop editing for the rest. I liked how the image of 10 Downing Street looks painted and surreal (this effect is awesome to create in photoshop) and the Pig is the opposite – the contrast between the two images is exactly what I wanted to create so I am happy with how it turned out.

Game of Thrones – Final Season Episode five

GOT SPOILERS AHEAD

Well, wasn’t that a treat?

So as mentioned in an earlier post, I already know what is going to happen thanks to confirmed spoilers on Reddit but I have to say that I actually liked this episode. Many GoT fans didn’t but oh well, I thought it was good.

I thought Dany turning into the angry, dragon queen was awesome however, I don’t know how Jon will deal with Angry Dany. You could see by the expression on his face that his heart was breaking as he watched the terror unfolding in the streets. I don’t see Dany coming back from this one, nope, not at all, and if Jon manages to forgive her, my respect for him will cease to exist.

Cersei and Jaime were just tragic together, weren’t they? As mean and as evil as Cersei is, she looked so vulnerable and so very human in that final scene. I may or may not have shed a tear or three for her and Jaime, as twisted as they were together.

And then there’s Arya. How epic was her escape though? It was sensational how the cameras followed her tripping and falling and being crushed by just about everyone. I was happy to see she survived. She fared better than most. She’s still the Hero Of Winterfell to me.

I know what’s coming but I also feel very nervous for the end. If this experience is anything to go by though, I’m SUPER keen for the producers to unleash their creativity on the Old Republic.

Cobra Kai Edits – Cobra Kai renewed for a third season!!

I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this before but my other burning passion besides Star Wars, of course, is the hit YouTube streaming show Cobra Kai. For those of you who don’t know anything about it, it’s basically a show all about the two main characters from The Karate Kid universe; Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and how they’ve managed to survive 30 years after The Karate Kid.

Season One basically follows Johnny’s story and let’s just say he’s pretty down and out and living a life void of friendship, love and well, just about anything good. You also get to see Daniel LaRusso who is the picture perfect example of the high-life in Los Angeles; he’s successful and has a loving relationship with a lovely family. Obviously, these two people living very different lives somehow collide, and that’s the basic premise for Season One.

Season Two which released a couple of weeks ago, picks up exactly where the first season dropped off introducing one of Johnny’s worst enemy’s in John Kreese who is very much alive and kicking (no pun intended). And yesterday they just officially announced Season Three but also confirmed that all episodes would be FREE on YouTube Premium! Honestly, that’s a huge deal because the first two seasons are subscriber-only access. So I think it’s safe to say the show is doing really, really well.

To celebrate this fandom and my journey forward into Graphic Design, I made a few edits for Season Three. I hope you like them and if not, that’s OK too 🙂 This is best place to post what I create until I’m game enough to start a portfolio of my own on Behance or Instagram 🙂

The Game of Thrones will be played

Like everyone else on the planet, I rushed home from work to watch the latest episode of Game of Thrones. I knew it would be epic because the battle of all battles was about to begin. Who would die? Who would live? Could the Night King really beat Dany and Jon?

2019 – The Year of the End

To coin a soppy phrase from Tony “Ironman” Stark – “Part of the Journey is the end” – 2019 is the year where we celebrate (or grieve) the ending of so many different franchises.  The two most prominent are the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Phase One ends with The Avengers End Game and the Star Wars franchise finally wraps up the Skywalker Saga in December this year. Streaming services will also have its share of big blockbuster TV Shows such as Game of Thrones which also wraps up after 8 seasons this year. Continue reading → 2019 – The Year of the End

The Oscars are on today!

I don’t know why people have to say negative things about award shows, particularly when their favourite actor or actress doesn’t win. Are the Oscar’s and other award shows rigged just because Sebastian Stan (as an example) wasn’t nominated? Who knows, but that’s no reason to be angry about it.

I actually felt bad for being excited for the Golden Globes because of stuff I read on social media. It’ll be interesting to see what happens. I’ll be watching and reading attentively.
