Inquisitor Cal Kestis and Darth Maul Motion Art

I don’t know why I am so obsessed with these two being together since I read about Jedi Fallen Order 2 coming out at some point and so I became a little restless and decided edits were in order 🙂

Here’s the edit I did after finding this very cool image of Cal Kestis as an Inquisitor. I added Darth Maul because I think it would be awesome seeing these two together in a game…

I didn’t even play the first game which is entirely like me. I thought about it for weeks but eventually I had zero time to sink into it so decided to skip it. Plus I found out that there is no way to make Cal go to the dark side and that is what I wanted to do!

Anyway watermarked on my edit so hopefully, nobody claims it as their own (not that they would but you never know with the Internet, people will always disappoint you lol) 😂

Let me know what you’ve been up to friends – any cool art or creative tasks you’d like to talk about? Let me know in the comments either way!

Should Solo: A Star Wars Story Get a Sequel?

Ron Howard has been quoted as saying that he hasn’t heard anything concrete at all about a sequel being considered for Solo: A Star Wars Story. So that nips all those unofficial rumours in the bud a bit.

That’s not to say that there won’t ever be a sequel, but it’s kind of like saying “they are going to be including Hayden Christensen in the Obi-Wan TV show”. Until something official is announced, it’s only a rumour.

As far as what I think of Solo: A Star Wars Story – it’s not in my top five movies in the Star Wars franchise, let’s just say that. The only real surprise in this film was seeing Darth Maul (which nobody knew would happen) and he was awesome. Especially since at that point, everyone thought he was dead (cinematically, that is). We know his story carries on in the animated series but in terms of the films, nobody expected to see him in this and his one scene was better than most of the others combined. Darth Maul remains one of the best things to come out of the Star Wars cinematic universe.

Fight me if you don’t agree 😉

Let me know what you think of Solo: A Star Wars story or any part of this post and as always, I’ll see you in the comments.

Star Wars is Poetry – Quote of the Day

There is a bit of a story behind this quote, and the actor voicing this line in the movie. When I found out it wasn’t the actor’s voice used in the delivery of this line, I was a little bummed out. Until I heard Ray Park talk for the first time. Not that there is anything wrong with Ray Park’s voice, but I can totally see why they opted to have a voice actor deliver one of only two lines he speaks in The Phantom Menace.

Darth Maul was a mystery from the beginning. And it was that “mystique” associated with the character that I really liked about him. He was elusive, and for the longest time, I thought the title of the film, The Phantom Menace, was referring to him – and it wasn’t. It was referring to Palpatine as the menace. I would still argue that Darth Maul posed a severe threat to the Jedi and that he took out one of the most important Jedi Master’s of that time is testament to the fact.

He was well and truly a “phantom” and a menace.

I hope you enjoy the graphic I made. Can you think of any other characters from The Phantom Menace who stood out for you? Let me know in the comments!

Mobile phone animation – Kylo Ren and Darth Maul GIFs

I’ve been learning how to make animation on my phone and there are some really good apps out there for people who like to create stuff on the go! I played around a bit with Pixaloop, and I found it was good for making quick animations. There are other apps you can use as well which utilise templates where you add your image and text and the app does the animation for you. I am sure there are dozens of apps that do this but I wanted to see how easy it would be to do.

Here are a few of my “mini” projects created on my phone:

Darth Maul Edit and Animation

I’ve done a lot of animation using Darth Maul because he’s just so underrated to me as a Star Wars villain. And there is a lot of really good star wars literature out there in the way of comics and books that extend his story far beyond the films. Even animated tv series such as Star Wars The Clone Wars do him a lot more justice than I felt he received in The Phantom Menace. Did you know that the voice used in the Phantom Menace isn’t Ray Park’s, the actor that played him? They had to use a voice over artist because Ray Parks’ voice was too highly pitched to use for Darth Maul Nice little factoid for you!

So I am on a little bit of a Darth Maul trip right now hence all the edits. But this one, I am especially proud of because I played around with Photoshop filters and blending to come up with this and I really like the finished edit:

And a GIF where I was just fooling around with different animations:
