I’ve started using Instagram as a way to connect with fellow Star Wars fans. One of the posts I made on Instagram seemed to really get up someone’s nose regarding the whole “Reylo” relationship that Kylo Ren and Rey fans are hoping will happen in The Last Jedi. I will reiterate that I AM not a supporter of either group in this – my support goes to the Star Wars fandom as a whole, not any particular group. It wasn’t my intention to do or say anything that would offend people but I guess if you post something, anything online you’re fair game for criticism whether you welcome it or not.
I’ve started reading all of the Old Republic comics. I decided that if I want to understand as much as I can about the Star Wars universe, I might as well start at the beginning. These comics also have relevance to SWTOR (the game that I play) and it’s actually pretty cool getting to see who all of the important characters were and what their roles were in the SW galaxy as a whole. Now I can look at the armour sets in the game and know the background behind the characters that wore it.
My Star Wars addiction knows no bounds it seems. I have now become a member of the Marvel website and I am subscribing to read their comics. I’ve actually always been a huge comic and manga fan so I am happy to be going back to my “roots” so-to-speak.
The inner conflict between light and dark is a constant theme used many times in the Star Wars universe. Why do we enjoy watching someone struggling with their “inner demons” so much? I think it’s because it’s much safer for us to navigate the darker side of the psyche with fictional characters.
In Anakin Skywalker’s story we are able to see how the inner conflict of one character can influence so many others; Padme, Obi-wan, and even the Jedi order itself. I have always revered the way Anakin suffered for so long without giving in until the conflict was finally too much to bear. Think about it. Whilst we may not face the same kind of struggles as Anakin, we are constantly exposed to situations in life where our choices influence not only our own paths but the paths of others. We are both Anakin and Vader every single day. From this post on Instagram. Image Credit.
