I saw a post talking about this via Star Wars Latin America’s website and they even have a video discussing it all and it got me thinking… what if?
Now, I know that Disney said they were going to tie up the Skywalker Saga with the death of Ben Solo and Rey becoming the “Skywalker” to end it all. But do you think Disney will ever reconsider going back to the Skywalker Saga at any point?
We know that the publishing side of Disney has already released details of their plans to focus on the Star Wars universe during the time of the High Republic. That much we know and I’ve blogged about it before.
The issue I have with that is we know Disney’s only concern is making money. I mean let’s face it, they’ve pretty much proven to the world that money is a primary concern for any of their franchises and as a business, that makes sense. But that could also mean that they aren’t at all interested in entertaining the fans which is why I think they decided to wrap up the Skywalker Saga. They knew they couldn’t really build on the sequel trilogy any further so they needed to create a new “brand” within the Star Wars universe for fans to get excited about once more.
Are we really all that excited about The High Republic? I have my reservations. The one thing that the Skywalker Saga has is that everyone knows the characters – and loves them. Building a brand new “saga” for the Star Wars universe means creating characters fans will love and stories fans will be interested in. Are we as fans ready for that?
Should that fail, do you think Disney would reconsider going back to the Skywalker saga at any point?

Hi there 🙂 Hmm lol wasn’t expecting that! I would be okay with it if they used different writers and let Jon Favreau get involved somehow or Dave Filoni because those guys are talented. If that was possible, then yeah d;efinitely

Hello 🙂 yes, different writers is an absolute must. I don’t know who they could get to really do justice to the Star Wars franchise. I mean the shows (animated included) are doing well but the movies are just not up to scratch. But the two suggestions you made would be a good addition to any future endeavour. I would just like to see a Star Wars movie I actually enjoy, the last one I did enjoy was Rogue One.

Rogue One was amazing. I just quickly took a look at the writing credits behind it to see who the writers were and I think they’re better than the writers of the sequel trilogy. I am not that sure of JJ Abrams and his writing talent. I prefer Rian Johnson. There’s just something annoying about JJ Abrams I can’t put my finger on. So yeah, even having Kevin Fiege involved at this point would be amazing consdering what he did with the Avengers franchise. What I think is that it can’t get much worse than the sequel trilogy so there is only one way to go and that is up.
