Extended Excerpt of The High Republic Novel by Charles Soule
Some time earlier this month there was an extended excerpt of Charles Soule’s upcoming novel The High Republic. I know that a few of my readers are avid Star Wars book fans so I thought I’d post this just in case it went under the radar for some.
I’m still on the fence about The High Republic. I’m not sure if it’s something I can get behind or not in the long term but it is still exciting to see new things being released in the Star Wars universe and new heroes being made.
For those of you who are into ALL things Star Wars, here’s a link to an extended excerpt of the book for you to read if you feel like reading more:

Thanks for this, Julie, I didn’t know there was an extended excerpt. I don’t blame you for being on the fence about it–it’s early yet, we only know a little bit about it, but I’m liking what I see and I’m pretty excited about it! Let me know if you’d still like to collaborate on a post–I’ll be posting some info on the High Republic on my book site, but if there’s some angle you’d like to cover for a post for your site, let me know, I’m all in!
OH definitely π I am kinda busy this month with NANOWRIMO (tryng to write 50 k words in a month lol) but after that, we can collab as often as you’d like – I am excited for it! π
Yes, I’ve written some fantasy and speculative fiction. Nothing published, just one short story that placed in a contest. But mostly short stories and a few drafts of novels. I decided to take a break from writing fiction for awhile and focus on blogging, which I just love to do. And Star Wars, of course, which I am so in love with right now. I’ll go back to writing fiction again someday. Just not now, lol. I think I’ve subscribed to your writing site, but I’m not sure, I have to check, but I love supporting other writers because I know how hard it is!
Oh yeah, well I am not published as a fiction writer. I have a background in journalism and I freelanced for a while but it was difficult to keep working on contracts all the time. So yeah writing in general as a living can be difficult but also very rewarding. I am recently obsessed with fiction writing and short stories in particular π although I’ve been writing fiction since as far back as I can remember but II only recently posted some of it to my blog after I dunno how many years lol
I totally understand wanting to take a break as well – for me it’s finding my voice and feeling confident about writing again that has me in a super creative space right now so I am trying to take advantage of it while I can π
Absolutely. I had a blog for my writing for awhile, too, but it’s not up anymore. I got burned out, I think, and needed to switch gears. I love blogging because I can write whatever I want, instantly communicate with people, but there’s not a lot at stake, really, lol. It’s just fun writing.
Sometimes that is what you need π I blog because I enjoy it and I enjoy meeting llike-minded people. I’ve met some lovely people blogging here on WP π

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! I’ve done Nanowrimo a few times, and yes, it takes up ALL of your time. So no hurries. Hope it all goes well for you!
