Lando Calrissian Might Have His Own TV Show at Disney Plus

RUMOURED

It seems all the rumours are coming out of the woodwork now (not sure if that even makes sense, but you get my meaning). Although this rumour has been reported by a much wider group of media outlets than the Hayden Christensen rumour. Maybe that’s a sign this is legit?

Cinema Blend, amongst others, reported this on their website yesterday. And star wars fans are quick to give their opinions on whether this is a suitable fit for Disney Plus.

It’s trending on Twitter as well. And here’s what Discussing Film had to say about it on their Twitter account:

Lando Calrissian Played by

I’m really not bothered either way. I enjoyed the original character of Lando Calrissian in the OT, but I wasn’t fussed either way on Donald Glover’s portrayal of Lando in his younger years. I think he did a reasonable enough job, but Lando has never been a character I’ve had much connection with inside the franchise, so I’m happy either way.

The problem with Disney is greed. I don’t want to be negative about the possibility of another Star Wars character getting more exposure to the fandom. I am all for the growth of any character. But I think Disney Plus is putting all of their eggs into one basket based solely on the success of The Mandalorian TV show.

The Mandalorian TV show is an exception to the rule of what worked for Disney Plus. It has no bearing on the success of any other show. Look at what happened to Solo – A Star Wars Story. And they pushed that out based on the previous success of standalone movie Rogue One, which was an excellent film. But Solo was mediocre at best, in my opinion. It wasn’t bad; it wasn’t good; it was just OK. So I think Disney needs to learn from their mistakes. But it looks like they are completely ignoring previous box office statistics and facts.

I will enjoy looking back on this post when or if the TV show flops.

What do you think about this? Do you think Disney Plus needs to roll out yet another TV show? Or do you think they should leave it at the Obi-Wan Kenobi show and the hugely successful The Mandalorian?

Let me know in the comments, friends! Looking forward to your opinions for discussion.
