Hello to My New Wacom Tablet!

Today I invested a lot of money into myself and my growth as a creative by purchasing a Wacom tablet. I have been thinking about doing this for some time and was going to wait until my birthday next month to buy it. But my partner said I should just buy it and so I did. It’s not a decision that I’ve made lightly. Wacom tablets are not cheap, especially the larger ones (about 1000.00 NZD) so I understand this is a lot of money to spend on myself. But I’m ready to take the next step, and I am very serious about what I want to do with my creativity going forward. With that in mind, it seemed like a worthwhile purchase to make. If I want to move forward, I have to learn how to use the tools that designers use and therefore, it seemed logical for me to do this.

It’s going to take some time to get used to using a tablet over a mouse, but I’m sure all my years of working in the tech industry will serve me well in learning how to master new hardware. I am also really excited to see how much better my edits and designs will be now that I am using a precision tool to create with. Not being able to apply pen pressure when creating things in Photoshop has been extremely frustrating, to say the least! Especially when editing larger files. This can become a laborious and painful process if you’re using a mouse. So while I may still incorporate the use of a mouse for some of the things I make, I am hoping to use the mouse a lot less as time goes on.

I can’t wait to use my mouse for creating motion art. It’s going to be awesome!
