Two Social Media Milestones to Celebrate!

I enjoy blogging about social media such as the highs and lows and trying to navigate through the complexity of social media success and failure. And I have blogged about social media in the past and received really positive feedback for most of those posts. So it seems that social media is a timely topic, and one that a lot of my readers are interested in.

And I also enjoy celebrating milestones when I reach them, not to boast but to blog about my own experiences so other people don’t make the same mistakes I did getting to this point. Or to offer advice that might help someone else reach their goals.

While 5,000 may not seem like a lot compared to some BIG social media accounts, it took a lot of effort, discipline and hours of creativity on my part to get there on both of these accounts. So I feel good about that achievement.

So to make it official, I hit 5K followers on both my Pinterest and Instagram accounts! Blogging on my Pinterest account has been a different experience to blogging on Instagram. On Pinterest, it felt like it was a lot easier to get to this point than on my Instagram account. I used to lose followers regularly on IG, but not on Pinterest. I don’t know why that is, but I know that every social media account has its own “flavour” of audience. This means if you want to grow your account, you have to understand your audience’s needs. And then remaining consistent and interesting to keep those followers and attract new ones.

On my IG account I have been a lot less diligent, which could also reflect why people follow and then unfollow. But that’s mostly because I haven’t been able to find the right social media software to use on IG that will schedule posts. I’ve tried a few and all of them are terrible at resizing my images for Instagram. So I’ve been manually posting this entire time (I know, I know enormous sigh 😭)

However, I feel I am at a point now where I am enjoying my time on social media a lot more than I used to. And this could also be a reason I am attracting more followers because the content I upload comes from a place of happiness and creative expression.

That is how I like to look at it anyway. And you know, I might end up going backward again on Instagram but I’m okay with that. Until I find the right software to use with my account, I’m going to continue posting what I want as regularly as I can. And that will just have to be good enough for my followers for now.

And perhaps you can help me out with some suggestions on social media software for auto-posting or scheduling on Instagram.
