The battle with After Effects – Part II

If you’ve been reading my blog lately, you’ll know about my previous post where I discussed navigating a new Adobe software program for animation. After Effects truly is a wonderful piece of software for anyone to use with a creative flair. However, I didn’t think it would be all that difficult to use AE as I am already quite proficient with Photoshop – I think that was probably me being a little over-enthusiastic perhaps.

So I spent more time reading various articles and forums to try and figure out how to do what I wanted to do in AE. And I think I really did hit the jackpot when I stumbled upon the Creative COW forums (creators of the world). I know that Adobe has similar forum posts for people looking to learn how to do something specific with their software. But the article I found on Creative COW was exactly what I was looking for (well, definitely better than the Youtube clips I found). I am pleased to say I have almost finished my first AE animated composition and I just have a few final touches to put on it before I upload it to the world 🙂

The lesson for today? Persistence is key if you really want to learn how to do something and NEVER stop learning 😁👍

I haven’t really liked using Photoshop for animation mostly because I didn’t really think that PS was the place to be creating animation, if that makes any sense. After learning the basics of animating text in After Effects, I can instantly see all the limitations that PS has and why so many people recommend AE for animation. If I’m honest with myself, I put off learning AE because I was simply too lazy to put any effort in at the time. […]
